Vaccine Resources: Covid-19, RSV, and More

The CDC’s Stay Up to Date with COVID-19 Vaccines was recently updated to include all age group vaccine recommendations. Learn about the different types of vaccines available and what to expect from new vaccines coming in the fall of 2023. You can also search for COVID-19 vaccine locations near you! The CDC COVID-19 vaccine infographic is a useful tool to determine COVID-19 vaccine recommendations based on age, previous vaccination, or immunocompromised status.

The Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) published the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) RSV vaccine recommendation for older adults. Adults aged 60 and older may receive a single dose of RSV vaccine, using shared clinical decision making. Read the full report here.

It's Not Too Early to Plan Your Vaccine Campaign

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and even though we're still dealing with the summer heat, it is not too early to start planning your vaccine campaign. CDC’s The Pink Book has a wealth of information regarding the epidemiology and prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases. The Vaccine Administration Chapter summarizes best practices related to vaccine immunization, including staff training, vaccine needs assessment, screening, and after-care instructions. This resource is free and available electronically. Finally, the IPRO QIN-QIO Resource Library offers an Influenza, Pneumococcal and Covid-19 Immunization Toolkit that includes strategies to make your vaccine campaign a success.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations, Deaths Trending Down; Vaccination Rates Need Improvement

While COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and death rates continue to decline, vaccination remains a vital tool to protect public health. One dose of the updated (bivalent) vaccine is required for individuals to be considered up to date.
