Dear Prayer Partners,
We just completed our first day of camp ... wow, what a day! The buses arrived right before lunch and it was on after that. We've already been in the swimming pool, the pond and have had our first chapel. Tomorrow is more of the same and we are excited about it.
Pray for some of these kids as they transition to a new environment. Pray for their bodies to rest well tonight and to be ready for a full day of camp on Tuesday. Pray for our counselors and staff to have the endurance to get through the long day of camp that tomorrow presents.
Here's a cute message from the camp scribe:
Dear God,
Hi! It's me, Si (pronounced s-eye), but you already know that because you know everything. I just stopped in to say thank you for letting me come to camp today! I loved riding on the bus! We got to watch a movie, and I met my counselor and he is just so nice. Also, thank you for Director Darren! I talked to him as soon as I saw him. I just love that guy. I looked at his hands and I noticed his ring. It has a cross on it! He told me that the cross lets other people know that he is a Christian! I looked at him in amazement, as you saw on my face. He told me that being a Christian means he loves everyone, including me. I knew I loved that man, and now I know that he loves me too! Thank you, God. Please watch over us while we sleep, oh! And thank you for the food here. It's really good.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Dear God,
It's me, the camp scribe. Thank you for bringing us this flock of children that you have entrusted us with this week. The connection, joy, and intentionality has already been visible and has started off on a good path. You are providing connection by allowing your children to remind us why we do what we do. Using this young boy to intentionally speak words of wisdom with the camp director is so awesome! Such a powerful impact for both the boy and the man. Thank you! This week is just getting started, and we are eager to see what else you have in store for us. I pray for continued protection surrounding our campgrounds, peace and joy as we bond with the campers, and a genuine close connection with you, God. Hold us close and help us feel your presence while we rest.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
Blessings,
Darren
p.s. Continue to pray for good health for everyone here. We are doing our best to keep everyone hydrated but it is very hot here at camp. We appreciate your prayers more than you know.
