76th Annual Hard Crab Derby

The Crisfield National Hard Crab Derby is a favorite annual Labor Day weekend event on the Maryland Eastern Shore, a unique crab themed event that includes crab races, crab cooking and picking contests, crafts, live entertainment, beauty pageants, parade, fireworks and more. Known by many as "The Crab Capital of the World", Crisfield is home to many seafood restaurants and the Somers Cove Marina, one of the largest marinas on the East Coast.

The Tangier Classic is a premier Chesapeake Bay light tackle fishing tournament located in Crisfield, MD (headquarters at American Legion #16). Anglers will compete 2 out of 3 days across 3 divisions (Boat, Kayak, Kids). Author Meet and Greet!



Pat Valdata is a poet and novelist who moved to Crisfield in 2017. Her newest book is a revised edition of Where No Man Can Touch, a collection of poems about women aviation pioneers that won the Donald Justice Poetry Prize a few years ago.


She will be doing a book talk and poetry reading at the Crisfield Library on September 18 at 5 p.m. talking about the women who were aviation pioneers, featured in her book.

VisArts, with the support of the City of Rockville’s Department of Recreation and Parks and the Maryland State Arts Council, is seeking a professional public artist to create a site-specific mural design using themes and ideas from community stakeholders.
