Our Mission: To proclaim Christ through faith, hope and love.

Greetings
We will conclude our current sermon series, “Inspired” this Sunday and, throughout this season we have been invited to reclaim and fall in love with the Bible again. We have taken seriously the stories that are contained within its pages - the good, the bad, and the ugly. We take the Bible seriously, but not literally and understand that these stories share a perspective of how humanity has tried to understand God and God’s intent. We also understand that these stories are written by the “winners” and this bias and context needs to be considered as we read.
We too have a story and last Sunday we claimed our own “Good News” and remembered how this Good News has impacted our lives, our stories. On Sunday we are invited to bring our Bibles to church and during the service there will be an act of blessing as a part of or own reclamation and redemption of a book (or rather 66 books) that have sometimes been used as a “weapon” rather than a “gift”.
This Sunday is also Mothering Sunday, and we will take a moment during worship to honor our mothers and those who have offered “mothering gifts” toward us. We know that we are blessed with many in our lives who have offered parenting qualities. Sometimes these are our biological parents and sometimes it is others who have given these qualities to us. We will honor both this weekend, acknowledging that our Heavenly Parent is both mother and father and transcends earthly restraints.
There is a lot to be grateful, even amid the bad news that we hear on a daily basis. I sincerely hope that you will be able to join us this Sunday in worship, fellowship, and celebration.
Blessings,

Sexuality, the Bible, and Modern Christianity
Thursday, May 23, 2024
through July 11, 2024
7:00pm - 8:30pm

Are you frustrated with how some people use the bible as a tool against LGBTQIA+ and sexuality in general? What does the bible really say about sexuality in general and specifically about same-sex relationships? How does a book written thousands of years in the past within a different societal and religious context apply to us today? This introductory foundational offering is for all who seek to reconcile modern sexuality with the text found in the bible. We will investigate the overall thematic structure of the bible, its biases, its historical context, its societal context, and specifically examine scripture that has been used to condemn issues of sexuality and especially LGBTQIA+ issues.
