Our next meeting is Monday, July 10, 2023. Our meeting is from 9:30AM to 11:00AM. As a reminder we are meeting bi-monthly - twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Our newsletter has moved to bi-monthly and will come out the Sunday before a Monday meeting. As a reminder, the survey on advocacy topics that we worked on at our last meeting will be going out on Wednesday, July 12th.

What do you know about Colorado Proposition HH, Property Tax Changes and Revenue Change Measure (2023)?

At this meeting we will have a presentation by the Legislative Council Staff (LCS) on Colorado Proposition HH, Property Tax Changes and Revenue Change Measure (2023). The Legislative Council Staff has served as the nonpartisan research arm of the Colorado General Assembly since 1953. The staff serve under the Director of Research and provide support to legislative committees, respond to requests for research and constituent services, prepare fiscal notes, provide revenue projections, and perform other centralized legislative support services such as Information Technology, Visitor Services, and more.


Colorado Proposition HH, the Property Tax Changes and Revenue Change Measure, is on the ballot in Colorado as a legislatively referred state statute on November 7, 2023. Learn more about the legislation at these links:

Some questions to consider as you review the Prop HH legislation are:

  • What are the short and longer term impacts are to State budget with/without passage? 
  • What happens to any TABOR refunds with/without passage?
  • What happens to State/County/Municipal taxes with/without passage?
  • What and how HH will positively impact Older Coloradans.
  • Where has support for the counties’ expenditures for services impacting Older Coloradans been? 
  • Where has any action to ensure AAA funding to match the significant growth of the older demographic?

Public Utilities Commission (PUC) PUBLIC COMMENT HEARINGs

A remote public comment hearing is scheduled for Xcel Energy's electric rate case for Tuesday, July 11, 2023 from 4:00PM - 6:00PM. The public comment hearings allow consumers to give oral statements regarding Xcel Energy's request to increase its electric base rate revenues, with higher base rates for all electric rate schedules and to make other tariff changes.

Colorado Commission on Aging Meetings

The Public is welcome to attend

The Colorado Commission on Aging (CCOA) was established under the authority of the Older Coloradans Act Section 26-11-101, C.R.S. to serve as the primary advisory body on all matters affecting older persons. The CCOA is a Governor-appointed, citizen-led, multidisciplinary Commission, comprised of representatives from both the public and private sectors to coordinate and contribute to guiding state programs, services, projects, policies, procedures, and resources in the area of aging and coordinate and guide the implementation of the strategic action plan on aging (Master Plan on Aging). The CCA members interested in aging issues in Colorado are encouraged to attend the committee meetings. All meetings are virtual until further notice. The meetings are:

  • CCOA committee meets monthly every 3rd Thursday of the month
  • CCOA Executive Subcommittee meets first Tuesday of the month
  • CCOA Age-Friendly Subcommittee meets 4th Friday of the month
  • CCOA Public Policy Subcommittee 2nd Monday of the month

ASA RISE Fellowship Program Accepting Applications

Preparing Diverse Talent to Lead in the Field of Aging

Applications Close July 15, 2023

ASA RISE is a 6-month social justice and leadership development program supporting the next generation of diverse leadership in aging. ASA RISE Fellows will lead to improved well-being across an increasingly diverse aging population by improving policies and programs at the local, state, and national levels. Applications are now open for the third cohort of ASA RISE! 


ASA RISE is open to BIPOC-identified professionals in the field of aging. Candidates should have a minimum of five years’ experience and do not need to be a member of American Society of Aging (ASA). We are seeking applicants from a cross section of sectors (such as business, academia, nonprofit and government), and disciplines (such as tech, social work, community-based services, arts, community engagement and financial services).

CU Anschutz COAST-IT Program

The Multidisciplinary Center on Aging at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is actively reaching out to more older adults in the community for the COAST-IT (Connecting Older Adults and Students Through Inter-professional Telecare) program. Older adults will have the opportunity to engage with a student from either the CU Anschutz School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, or School of Dental Medicine programs to mentor the future generation of healthcare clinicians.
