"Place is the fabric of our lives; memory and identity are stitched through it. Without having somewhere of one's own, a place that is home, freedom is an empty word."

New Mural in St. Clair Superior Kicks off Neighborhood Placemaking Efforts

What is placemaking? With community-based participation at its core, placemaking is both an idea and a hands-on approach for improving a neighborhood. Through a collaborative process that promotes better urban design and creative patterns of use, placemaking places a special focus on the physical, social and cultural identities that define a place. Learn more here.

As part of the placemaking efforts to come our way in St. Clair Superior through a partnership with LAND studio, a new mural was installed at 6515 St. Clair Ave. by artist Aaron Damonte Williams. Representing unity, the mural From St. Clair with Love shows how the power of community coming together produces the ability to transcend complex circumstances.

Learn more about the mural and the artist on Instagram. Make sure to keep an eye out when you're driving down St. Clair Ave!
