Safety Tips! 🌞

Rafting the Truckee River: As hotter temperatures continue throughout the summer, more people are using the Truckee River, reservoirs, and local lakes to "cool off," recreate, and fish. To learn how to stay safe, click HERE.

Cold Water in Lake Tahoe: Every year the public is warned about the dangers of cold water shock, but every year, people die in Lake Tahoe not due to a lack of swimming skill or hypothermia, but often due to cold water shock. Learn the importance of the three critical phases of cold water immersion HERE.

Tips to prevent mosquito bites: It’s recommended that residents who recreate in areas with standing water, wetlands, and other water sources, use Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)-registered insect repellants (find list here).

Preventing tick bites: Tick exposure can occur year-round, but ticks are most active during warmer months (April-September). Know which ticks are most common in your area.

Access to Healthcare had its second annual Summer Rural Health Fair!

This community event occurred at Elko City Park on June 24th, 2023. It was FREE to all with yoga sessions by Blissful Yoga, Dance Class by Empower Fitness, fantastic tunes by Los II DIaz DJ, a live performance by Full Circle, routine vaccines provided by Immunize Nevada, a surprise helicopter landing by Reach Medical Air, a community partner cash prize bingo raffle, to Elko Broadcasting live during the event.

We had 14 of our AHN staff volunteer to make this event successful!
