Checking Out the Senior Nutrition Program
This week I had the pleasure of joining some local residents for the Senior Nutrition Program at the Berryessa Community Center. As always, I had a great time talking with neighbors, hearing their concerns and getting their input.
San Jose's Senior Nutrition Program is an incredible resource for seniors in our community. Not only is food great, but the value of gathering in a social setting with friends is obvious. For more information on the Senior Nutrition Program see the city's website. See menus here.
Celebrating Independence Day in San Jose!
This Fourth of July we celebrated freedom in full bloom! ✨ The Rose, White & Blue Parade was an absolute blast, filling the streets with vibrant colors, contagious joy, and patriotic spirit. My team and I are so proud to have been part of this unforgettable celebration. Thanks to Our City Forest and teens from Silicon Valley Youth Climate Action who walked along the parade route with me my and my son Reed.
Cleaning Up Our Creek Trails
This week we gathered a great group of volunteers to help clean up the section of Penitencia Creek Trail between Jackson and 680. My team is always working on the next event, if you'd like to join us, see the volunteer page on our website.

Give A Backpack to a Student in Need!
D4 is thrilled to team up with Family Giving Tree, a charitable organization committed to empower, uplift, and unite Bay Area students. Since 1990, Family Giving Tree has delivered over 2 million backpacks filled with school supplies and wished-for holiday gifts to recipients who face financial hardships. For this year’s Family Giving Tree Back-to-School Drive, the goal is set to provide 28,000 supply-filled backpacks for their 28th year of supporting students for Back-to-School. Our group has committed to be a part of the movement to fight educational inequity and equip Bay Area students to rise to new heights. We are committed to putting essential, quality school supplies into the hands of our young and ambitious Bay Area scholars. Join us as our D4 team helps them reach this goal by July 27th. We have set our own goal to reach 100+ backpacks so let’s work together to hit that target.

Who's making a big difference in our community? A great teacher, business owner, a police officer who goes beyond the call of duty. Maybe there's someone spending their free time organizing creek clean-ups or blanket drives for the unhoused... If you've got someone special in your neighborhood, let us know by nominating them to be a District Hero!
