Dear Friends of the Crisis Center,
I hope you are enjoying the mild temperatures as we all prepare for the hot summer months to come! Relatedly, you may not be aware of our Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) program that we are operating with our 211 agency partners in the state, which assists those that may be particularly vulnerable to a loss of electricity due to a planned shutoff or unplanned outage. Maddie Ramsey, coordinates the program for us, which provides information and linkage to agencies that can provide help with transportation, cooling options, back-up batteries for medical equipment, and many other needs. Additionally, every summer, we work collaboratively with our county’s public health and communication departments, and our community-based partners, to ensure that we have up to date information about cooling centers and other resources available throughout the county, all of which are accessible by calling 211 or texting HOPE to 20121. We are proud of our role in helping to keep our community safe during these predictable times of need but also when disaster strikes. As such, we work closely with our county’s Office of Emergency Services and we are an executive team member of Contra Costa County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (CCCVOAD), which serves as a link between non-profit and other community-based and government disaster response agencies. Just more ways the Crisis Center supports our community, and we thank you for supporting us!

End Hate. Promote Love. Spread Kindness.
Californians who experience a hate crime or hate incident can now anonymously report it to the state's Civil Rights Department through a new hotline. Established to report non-emergencies, the CA vs. Hate hotline and the online portal can be used by anyone who has personally experienced or witnessed a hate crime or incident.
The hotline, which launched May 4, is available Monday-Friday from 9 am to 6 pm at 833-866-4283 or 833-8-NO-HATE. Outside of the available hours, individuals can call 211 or leave a voicemail to report an incident.

Leftovers was created in 1976 by three community minded women who were seeking a way to generate funds for the Contra Costa Crisis Center. The result was ‘Leftovers’, a thrift shop located in a former bunkhouse in Moraga. Following several moves Leftovers was re-located to its present address – 2281 Olympic Blvd, Walnut Creek.
Leftovers is a non-profit thrift shop, with no paid staff. All earnings go to organizations serving people in need, mainly the Contra Costa Crisis Center. They also support Meals on Wheels, Contra Costa Food Bank, Bay Area Crisis Nursery, the Rossmoor Fund and the Rossmoor Scholarship Fund.
