Milpitas HS junior Rayan Dua presented with President's Volunteer Service Medal
Milpitas HS junior Rayan Dua was honored for his volunteer service in support of our MUSD community. Dua earned a gold medal from the MUSD President's Volunteer Service Award Program. He has done 150+ hours of community service with Milpitas Library, Milpitas Kiwanis, Milpitas Knights, India Community Center, tutoring with MUSD, and the STEAM Showcase.

School Link Services Team for MUSD Resources Fair
Norma Morales, Student Link Services Supervisor of Wellbeing and Immigrant Support, and Nicole Steward, Student Link Services Coordinator, were recognized by the MUSD Board of Education and District leadership for organizing and promoting the MUSD Community Resources Fair at the April 23 meeting.

Kiwanis Club of Milpitas for continued support of MUSD students and staff | Milpitas Kiwanis Club was honored for their continued support of our MUSD students, staff and families at the April 23 meeting. Through scholarship and initiatives such as the Kohl's Care Shopping Spree, Kiwanis has donated more than $250,000 to our MUSD community. | | |
Milpitas HS educators Wohlman, Hutchison for grant writing | Milpitas HS Principal Greg Wohlman and Teacher Andrea Hutchison were honored by the MUSD Board of Education and District leadership for working diligently to secure a $2 million grant for the MUSD Innovation Campus at the April 23 meeting. | | |

Board moves forward with prep for Parcel Tax Measure
Upon hearing from various stakeholders about the importance of staffing full-time elementary school physical education teachers; staffing full-time elementary health clerks; continuing to offer a technology elective at our middle schools; as well as upgrading athletics, civic leadership, mental health and technology, among others, Superintendent Jordan introduced the process for initiating a Parcel Tax Measure on the November 5, 2024 general election ballot.

Milpitas HS students come in support of City Peace Project |
After hearing from students and staff, the Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the City Peace Project for multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) at Milpitas High School for the remainder of the 2023-2024 School Year as well as the 2024-2025 school year. The City Peace Project team directly intervenes in the lives of students struggling with truancy, inappropriate habits on campus, and other behavior-related issues. Their goal is to re-engage with these identified students and encourage consistency, growth, and a sense of community in order to see improvement in attendance, punctuality, active class engagement, and behavioral self-management.

Principal's Report: Pomeroy touts highest attendance rate in district by engaging families |
Pomeroy Elementary School Principal Nichol Klein, along with Assistant Principal Anastasia Hrissafinis, shared their school Principal's Report, highlighting the attendance accomplishments from last year to the current year, with goals to improve overall attendance, reduce chronic absenteeism, and build home/school connections and increase student engagement. Pomeroy's attendance has improved from 95.2% in 2022-23 to 97.1% in 2023-24. Admin credits incentive programs, using beads, posters and ribbons for the improvement.
