Hello, Blackhawks!
This has been a phenomenal year for our club - and the season isn’t even over! We have more than 1,400 players from kindergarten through college, 70+ teams, and more than 60 dedicated coaches. Our Capital Classic tournament has almost tripled in size from its start–we hosted 114 teams last weekend. And this summer, Blackhawks jerseys will be spotted from California to Florida and in both Sweden and Norway. Our growth and competitiveness are undeniable.
Every time we show up for training or a game, the impact on our players, our opponents and our community grows and deepens. At the very heart of this impact are our coaches and staff, working each day to instill a love of soccer in each of our players and carry on the Blackhawk legacy.
With this in mind, I am thrilled to announce an inaugural opportunity for us all to honor and celebrate the Blackhawks coaches and staff who have shaped and inspired our players, families and community. We’re calling it our Impact Celebration and the board, alongside several generous donors, have already kicked us off with over $7,000 in donations.
Over the next three weeks, we invite you to join us in celebrating the impact of a current or former Blackhawks coach or staff member who has played a meaningful role in the life of your player or your family. Maybe they built your player’s confidence on the pitch, maybe they helped strengthen your love of the game, maybe they simply brought much-needed joy and sweat to your player’s week. The first line of our club’s mission calls on our leaders to “build character in our soccer players and strengthen our community.” Let’s share the stories of the Blackhawks who exemplify that mission and show our thanks by giving back to the club in their names. The money we raise together will be used to ensure that Blackhawks now and in years to come benefit from the lessons and legacies shared with us by the honorees.
On a personal note, when our family moved to Saint Paul in 2017, the Little Hawks were immediately welcoming and gave us a place to build community. B-B-B-L-A! Thank you, Chris Scanlon, for your tireless commitment over the last decade to Little Hawks & U9/U10 programming.
