Community Corner
HCLHIC Container Garden Project Update
Special thanks to partners of the Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition (HCLHIC) and staff of the Howard County Health Department (HCHD) for growing seedlings from 175 seed packets donated by Clarks Ace Hardware.

The veggies and herbs seedlings were given to senior and disabled residents of Owen Brown Place in Columbia to support with their container gardening.

Thank you to all who helped grow seedlings!
Healthy Beginnings
Black Maternal Health Week Celebration
Thanks to partners of the Howard County Local Health Improvement Coalition for supporting the successful Black Maternal Health Week event on April 20th.

This focus this year was on Restoring Joy through Community Care. Attendees were able to connect with other community members, get insight from maternal health practitioners, and use the available massage and reiki room.

Office of Children and Families Family Support Center
The Howard County Office of Children and Families Family Support Center offers comprehensive, family centered, community-based preventive programs for parents, caregivers and their children ages birth to five.
Program highlights include child development, parent education, and health education, as well as resources and referrals.


Hatchlings: Baby on the Way
Howard County Library System will be hosting an interactive early literacy class for expectant parents.

Participants will receive a FREE book, activities calendar, and song sheet. Space is limited to expectant parents/partners. Free dinner will be provided by the Howard County Health Department.

LindaBen Foundation's Mobile Market
LindaBen Foundation's Mobile Market will now have one of their hubs at the Bryant Woods Elementary School Parking Lot.

The Mobile Market typically runs every 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month with the season ending on Nov 23rd.

Join the Howard County Office on Aging and Independence (OAI) for their Creating Community. Cultivating Connections. Showcase as part of Older American's Month on May 2nd at 2 – 6pm at East Columbia 50+ Center. Keynote presentation will focus on Why Social Contact Matters as We Age.

Children's Mental Health Matters!
In honor of Children's Mental Health Matters Campaign, the Howard County Office of Children and Families will be hosting its “Discussing Your Child’s Mental Health with Your Primary Care Provider,” workshop virtually this Wednesday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m.

During this workshop, participants will discuss the importance of mental health for everyone and what to do if you notice ongoing changes in your child’s emotional well-being or behaviors. To register to participate in this FREE workshop, click HERE

Opioid Overdose Response Training
The Howard County Health Department (HCHD) offers free virtual training on Narcan: Register for virtual training.
