Mississippi Sippin
Thursdays | July - August | 5pm - 8pm
Relax outdoors along MMAM's Riverwalk on Thursdays this summer at Mississippi Sippin. Enjoy a curated selection of spirited and non-spirited beverages and regional culinary selections along the Mississippi River. Then, venture into the galleries (open late until 8pm) to see how exhibiting artists are using water as inspiration for their work. Mississippi Sippin presents a casual opportunity to explore how many different art forms can be inspired by water. In case of inclement weather, Mississippi Sippin will be moved inside the museum.

Our Community: Toddler Tuesday
10:30am - 12pm | Second Tuesday
On the second Tuesday of every month, you will find a lively gathering of our littlest art lovers and their grown-ups at the Minnesota Marine Art Museum. Toddler Tuesday offers hands-on art activities such as painting with marbles, drawing, and butterfly making. There are also opportunities for free-play; storytelling by MMAM’s resident storyteller, Laura Armstrong; and a chance for toddlers and their grown-ups to take a self-guided exploration of artworks in the galleries.

Our Community: SPARK!
First Wednesday of every month
Every month, community members who are living with memory loss and their care partners gather at MMAM for a program called SPARK! This program offers participants an opportunity to enhance their quality of life through social engagement, mental stimulation, and communication. In June, participants took a tour of the gardens with MMAM’s Curator of Engagement, Learning and Impact, Heather Casper, and talked about plants, smell, memories, and visited artworks in the museum that connected to their discussion. Registration is required for this program.

Registration for this program is required and space is limited.

August Community Reads Program
MMAM is proud to partner with the Winona Public Library and their August Community Reads Program.
| This August, join the Winona area community, Winona Public Library, and MMAM, as we read Aimee Nezhukumatathil’s New York Times bestselling memoir, World of Wonders. The book is a collection of essays about the natural world, and the way its inhabitants can teach, support, and inspire us. World of Wonders and its original illustrations by Fumi Nakamura are on exhibition currently at MMAM in Waking Worlds: Wondrous Reads for Curious Minds. | |
|
Three events will happen throughout the month of August in conjunction with the book:
