Strong to the Finish

Happy May, Owl families! We're down to the final month of the school year - and what a busy month it is! Our students are excited for Movie Night, Superhero Day, concerts, the Stuffie Drive, Field Day, yearbook signing, graduation parades, and so much more. Our amazing teachers will continue to lead our learners with enthusiasm and commitment, doing their best to nurture a love of learning right up until summer break. This is quite the challenge, as you can imagine, so if you want to give our teachers some extra love and support, next week is the perfect time to do it! It's Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week at Aspen Ridge, and you can help us kick it off this weekend at Chalk the Walk! Stop by school anytime Saturday or Sunday, grab some chalk, and write/draw messages of thanks and support to our awesome ARPS staff members. Let's show them how very loved they are by filling our sidewalks with color and cheer!

Speaking of cheer, three cheers for the awesome Owls pictured above! These are the buddy classes that won the March Madness Reading Challenge, and they had ice cream on the playground to celebrate. It's fun to see how close all of our buddies have become over the course of the year. They've built relationships that will last through their time at Aspen Ridge - and beyond! Our buddy program is just one of the ways that we practice our "we are connected" mindset.

We can't wait to help your Owls SOAR this summer!

Each year, St. Vrain Valley School District recognizes teachers who are going above and beyond to make a difference in their students' lives. Out of 14 nominations submitted to Aspen Ridge, Ms. Polly, Ms. Murphy, and Ms. Vallort were chosen as the top three candidates for Teacher of the Year! The district then selected the Teacher of the Year award for Aspen Ridge...and the incredibly deserving winner was: Shannon Murphy! Congratulations!

Volunteer Opportunities: We'd Love Your Help!

We need parent volunteers to help with Middle School Movie Night this Friday, May 3rd! Help us throw this parent-led event to give our middle schoolers one last social event before the summer, as they watch The Sandlot in the gym!

We can't hold this event without parent help, so if you're free to chaperone or sell concessions from 8:00pm to 10:00pm this Friday, May 3rd, please sign up here!

Our Aspen Ridge students look forward to Field Day all year long (just as we did when we were kids).

It's a day of cooperation, collaboration, and fun for all!

Join us on Saturday, May 4th, or Sunday, May 5th, as we kick off a week of celebrating our ARPS teachers and staff. Draw and write messages of appreciation on the front and back sidewalks of the school. Chalk will be provided, or feel free to bring your own as we have a limited supply. Come anytime this weekend and help put smiles on staff members' faces!

Four Ways to Make a Difference in May!

Bring $1 (or more) for a chance to dress down (or dress up as a superhero!) and make a difference in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis!

Donate new, unused stuffed animals from May 1st - 15th to bring comfort to seriously ill children in Colorado. The top three classes will win a popsicle party, and the class that donates the most stuffies will also win a pizza party!

Need an answer to the dreaded, "what's for dinner?" question on May 13th? Bring the family (dine in or take out) to Pho-Ever and 15% of sales will go back to ARPS! Or, stop by for lunch, as they'll be donating all day!

Help raise money for our Aspen Ridge PTO while giving a second life to your kiddo's uniforms! All donated items will be sold at a Uniform Sale this summer. Stay tuned for details!

Travel Abroad with Aspen Ridge!

Our incoming 7th and 8th grade students will have the opportunity to travel internationally next year! If we have enough interests/signups, we will be spending 7 nights in London and Paris, exploring the sights, sounds, tastes, history, and culture of these spectacular cities. A little snow didn't keep us from dancing the night away in tropical-themed attire at the first annual Family Luau Dance. Thank you, ARPS PTO, for hosting such a fun event!

Thank you to all of the students and families who donated to our Ramen Noodle Drive for Erie UpLink at the Family Luau Dance! We love supporting this local organization that supports Erie families in need!

Officer Thoen gave two students the time of their lives as they drove to school in a police cruiser, stopping for breakfast treats on the way! We'll auction off this popular item in the Spring Gala again next year!

Our Aspen Ridge artists were well represented at the SVVSD annual art showcase, held last month at the . Thank you, Ms. White, for teaching and inspiring these students all year long and for working so hard to put this annual art showcase together!

Last month we put on our glasses, gathered on the turf, listened to an awesomely on-theme playlist (Here Comes the Sun, I Wear My Sunglasses at Night, Walking on Sunshine, and more), and observed a rare and beautiful solar eclipse. Incredible!

After last week's Variety Show, there's no doubt about it...we have some talented Owls here at Aspen Ridge! From singers, dancers, poets, and gymnasts to vaulters, magicians, musicians, and hilarious scientists, we were all entertained and impressed.
