FRIDAY: Timesheet Deadline for July 15th Pay

On behalf of Business Financial Services

Due to the fiscal year-end and the holidays on July 3rd and 4th, Payroll has an extremely short window (1 ½ workdays) to process the June payroll for hourly employees which will be paid on July 15th. As such, it is imperative that supervisors make every possible effort to ensure that all approved timesheets are received by Payroll no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, June 30th. Timesheets received after this deadline will be paid on August 15th and those expenses will hit fiscal year 2024 budgets.

We appreciate your cooperation in meeting this very important deadline.

DEADLINE FRIDAY: Free CulturaGo Study Abroad Prep!

The Center for International Programs and Inclusive Excellence

CSU Pueblo is one of six institutions awarded the CulturaGo Grant- Summer '23. Through this grant, students have the opportunity to enroll in free cultural education courses to help prepare them for study abroad in South Korea and Italy. The self-paced courses cover topics like etiquette, culture shock, avoiding faux pas, and advice from locals. The deadline to enroll students is June 30.

However, students will retain their access beyond that date and are encouraged to continue utilizing this resource to prepare for their future study abroad.

There are no requirements or prerequisites to join this course, and any student simply curious about studying in South Korea or Italy is encouraged to register!

Commissioning for the HSB elevator is scheduled for Wednesday, July 5, 2023. If it passes the inspection, service will begin immediately.

Commissioning for the Life Science elevator is scheduled for Monday, July 17, 2023. If it passes the inspection, service will begin immediately.

Administration Building is on schedule to begin service mid-July and will be online for the start of the fall semester.

Lunch Connections - Every Tuesday

Connect with colleagues in an informal setting! Bring your lunch and a willingness to engage.

There are no set topics or scheduled events. We will gather with whomever is available and will pick a topic, article, TED talk, or similar to discuss over our lunch hour. 

We know everyone can’t make it every week, but we have the room reserved every Tuesday from noon to 1pm, and anyone can suggest a topic – no group leader needed. 

All are welcome. Feel free to bring a student leader, a new co-worker, or simply ask a colleague to join us. 

The ASG Meeting Room is on the 2nd floor of the OSC. You might consider using your faculty/staff discount and getting your meal to go from the dining hall!

Blackboard Ultra Base Navigation Upgrade Coming July 2023

In late July of 2023, the dashboard of Blackboard will be updated to the Ultra Base Navigation view! After Ultra Base Navigation is activated, the landing page of Blackboard will be updated and consistent for every user who logs in to Blackboard. Activating Base Navigation is the first step towards moving our LMS from the Original to the improved Ultra experience. Academic Technology will provide more information and support on this upgrade to Ultra Base Navigation as we approach the July deadline for the transition.

Free Math Boot Camp for Veterans

Veterans Upward Bound is offering a FREE Math Boot Camp for Veterans. 

Has it been several years since you've been in a Math class? Have you struggled with Math in the past? Are you just trying to knock the rust off of your math fundamental?



If so, then then this Boot camp is for you! Join our great Math instructor who has taught math to our veterans for years and makes math fun. We will help prepare you for that first required math class. 

Additionally, all attendees will receive a free Go Bag at the end of the workshop. These bags are full student back packs loaded with school supplies, including noise cancelling headphones that will help you start your semester right.

The ThunderWolves Marching Band (TWMB) enthusiastically invites all students to join with us fall semester 2023 for another high energy and exciting season! While most positions in the band require at least one year of band instrument or color guard experience, there are also a few other positions available for students without experience. Our required camp for the fall season begins on August 7 so that we can be ready to go for the State Fair Parade and home opener football game. We are also able to offer a limited number of $1,000 marching band scholarship to all eligible students which will be distributed on a first come - first served basis. Need Help Putting Together a Successful Grant Proposal?

CSU Pueblo has recently employed Hanover research to provide targeted guidance for the university's programmatic and research grant activities by helping faculty and staff craft the most competitive submissions to secure more external grant funding.

Hanover is available to provide insights to identify, craft, and submit the most competitive proposals, including - Capacity Development (the development of the institutional capacity to pursue and manage grant funding through training, strategic assessment, and benchmarking.

Includes grantsmanship workshops, one-on-one guidance, and cohort-based support through Hanover's Grant Academy); Funding Research (exploring and evaluating grant opportunities aligned to programs, funding levels, and research needs.



Facilitates planning through research on historical and future funding trends while monitoring which funders our peers are targeting.); Pre-Proposal Support (streamlining the assessment and development of competitive project concepts, helping to navigate funder expectations and providing coaching on program officer outreach before proposal development; Proposal Support (helping bolster grant proposal projects through hands-on review and revision services, ensuring that the most competitive proposals are submitted; and Proposal Development (providing primary writing and project management capabilities, ushering institutional teams from iterative drafts to polished, on-time submissions).

CHEM 125/L: Introduction to Environmental Science (GenEd Science)

On behalf of the Chemistry Department

Environmental science is the study of patterns and processes in the natural world and their modification by human activity. To understand current environmental problems, we need to consider physical, biological and chemical processes that are often the basis of those problems.

This course will give you the skills necessary to address environmental issues we are facing today by examining scientific principles and the application of those principles to natural systems. 

We will survey environmental science topics, considering the sustainability of human activities on the planet. Students will study ecological principles that govern the world and will examine current environmental problems and issues and develop a greater awareness of global interdependence and the role of individuals in affecting environmental issues. 

This course is designed for career or non-science student.

The lecture course meets T/Th from 1:00-2:20 pm and the corresponding lab course meets Tuesdays 9:00 – 10:50 am.

Fall 2023 Course - Pharmaceutical Chemistry, CHEM 491

On behalf of Chemistry

You have likely seen advertisements on TV promoting new medications. Pharmaceutical companies such as, Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Abbvie, Bristol Myers Squibb, and Merck, are always looking for emerging biologists, chemists, and engineers from schools like CSU Pueblo.

As a 40 year veteran of one of these pharmaceutical giants, I want to share the available opportunities in this field. The topics covered include the diverse specialized work that you would encounter and likely get to choose from. Being a practicing synthetic organic chemist in both chemical development and large-scale production technical services, I will be teaching the molecular progression from lab-scale discovery to post-launch, long-term production of ton-scale agricultural, pharmaceutical, and antibiotic molecular structures. This course also covers techniques and strategies employed to quickly and successfully solve a myriad of challenges in this field.
