For your thought:

What I say to you in the dark, tell in the light; and what you hear whispered, proclaim from the housetops.

Free Little Pantry

Our exiting SMMS Director, Tricia Morton, suggested that we build a “Free Little Pantry” a few months ago. The concept is similar to the “Little Rolling Library” – only with non-perishable food items, family supplies (diapers, wipes), or personal items (deodorant, toothpaste, etc.) The Free Little Pantry offers a way for church members, our school families, our Cub Scout families and our neighborhood to give what they can and take what they need. The pantry will be installed within easy access of both the school and the church on the east side of the building. The Cub Scouts and a few church members have agreed to construct the pantry, but we’ll need to raise approximately $300-$400 for the building materials. We hope to complete the project so that it may be dedicated to the Morton family as we send them off to their new home in North Dakota with our best wishes on July 16th. If you’d like to make a donation to cover the building materials, please mark your check or offering envelope with “Free Little Pantry.” If you’d like to help with construction, please contact our Church Administrator, Jennifer Lind, (via email here) or (505) 262-2484.

Extended by Popular Demand: The Chosen on Sunday Evenings

The Chosen is a crowd-funded TV series on the life of Jesus and his followers. St. Mark’s has shown the first three episodes and will continue to watch more episodes followed by a short discussion on Sundays through July from 7-8:30 p.m. in the library. Bring a snack or dessert to share (optional). For information on the series, you may find the trailer on YouTube here. Please sign up at the welcome table in the entrance area or email Mother Sylvia via email here or Jennifer Lind (our Parish Administrator) via email here.

Thanks to St. Mark's!

During the month of May, St. Mark's did a second round of donations of items like granola bars and individual packets of Gatorade to the International District's Public Library. to hand to patrons in need. The staff of the library sent us a thank-you card (see below). Keep up the amazing outreach, St. Mark's!

Summer of Conversation, Conversation Cafés & Logbook

Summer of Conversation will occur throughout the summer, but meeting at the church on Sundays is a ready-made meeting place option for most. With the formation classes on hiatus for the summer, we're opening up what we call, "Conversation Cafés" where people may meet for their Summer of Conversations in the Parish Hall after worship on Sunday mornings.

We have a Summer of Conversation Logbook for all parishioners to log their conversations. It resides on the table in the hallway between the narthex and the Parish Hall. Please update it regularly with whom you've met with and what date you met so that we can make sure everyone has a conversation (logging is not required, but we do have some cool stickers if you participate!). The logbook is sorted alphabetically by last name. If you're not in the book, there are blank sheets you may put your name on the inner flap of the binder cover.

Topical Group Conversations

Summer Topical Educational Groups- Sign up!

The “backbone” of St. Mark’s annual Summer of Conversation is intentional, one-on-one conversations, AKA “relational meetings.” In addition to encouraging participation in “one-on-one” conversations throughout the summer, we welcome individuals to convene and facilitate group conversations around particular topics or areas of shared interest on Sundays after church in the library. Do you have a hobby to teach others? Do you have a specific topic of conversation you'd like to explore as a group? Do you have a passion for something that others might enjoy?  If you would be interested in convening and facilitating an informal conversation around a topic or area of interest to you, please talk to a member of the clergy and sign up on the clipboard in the narthex.
