Economic Self-Sufficiency Graduation 2024

17 new families celebrate their success!

ES Graduation is a one-of-a-kind event and this year we shared it with over 200 friends, family, staff, and supporters. From the first heartfelt speech by our Community Service Award Winner, who exemplified what it means to give back, the smiles, tears, and applause lit up the night. We celebrated amazing accomplishments, long-fought successes, barriers smashed, and the power of perseverance with people who manifested positive futures for themselves and their families. Speakers inspired, graduates glowed, and the audience cheered every victory, small and large, which led us all to this moment.

Our director Erin Lukoss shared how proud BCOC is of these hard-working graduates...

"The theme "400 reasons why" resonates deeply with me because each graduate represents not just a number, but a life transformed—a family uplifted, a future rewritten. Together, we've helped 1,114 people break free from the cycle of poverty, creating ripples of positive change that will last through generations. Tonight’s graduates were receiving nearly $100,000 in annual subsidies and today they are receiving $0. The long-term impact of this accomplishment includes reduced intergenerational poverty, improved social mobility, and greater resilience to economic downturns. Families graduating from the ES program have built social capital and resilience to tackle their future."

Thank you for the Food Drives & Donations!

Food drives and donations are "jamming" all over Bucks County, and we are "bananas" for your support. Pictured here are just a few: Senator Steve Santarsiero's Shredding Event, National Charity League breakfast bags, Bucks County Community College Newtown, and First Wednesdays (a dedicated circle of friends who collect on behalf of BCOC EVERY month).

Why do they do it? "No one deserves to go hungry!"

A thank you that means so much...

Hello Ms. Kari,

I wanted to acknowledge your hard work. Thank you for placing me in such good hands with Ms. Robyn.

She could immediately tell by my voice how nervous I was. She assured me that you all were here to help and made me feel like I was not alone. I’m in tears right now.

I want you both to know that my sons and I really appreciate you both. We’ve had a tough couple years medically with my sons. Sometimes it can feel like the walls are caving in. Today, for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was not in this fight alone. I know it may seem dramatic, but it’s true. Thank you so much for your guidance and prompt responses.

Thank you 🙏 please if I can tell who ever how amazing you both are. Please forward this so everyone knows how amazing you both are. We are calling you our 😇 angels.

Forever grateful,

Anna
