MEET KYLE GAMURE

Say "Aloha!" to our new part-time maintenance worker Kyle Gamure. He was referred to the church's PUM committee by our Moderator Mano Nguyen via Kyle's Uncle Edwin.

Kyle is a young 16 year old from the federated States of Micronesia, Pohnpei. Our church's head maintenance worker, Isaac Horiuchi, has been mentoring Kyle to perform the duties and assignments needed to keep our buildings and grounds looking clean and beautiful.

Kyle has been working hard and is a great addition to our maintenance team at Crossroads!

Congratulations to Mano Nguyen on his recent appointment as General Manager of the Ilikai Hotel. Formerly at Kapiolani Residence, Mano brings over 20 years of property management expertise to his new role, where he leads a team of 80 in daily operations across maintenance, custodial, and security services. Mano has also modernized the hotel’s administration, implementing cloud-based tools and technology to enhance communication and efficiency, resulting in a 30-40% productivity boost. We’re excited to see the positive impact of his leadership at the Ilikai and within the Crossroads community.

David Takagi is thrilled to have two photos selected for the Biennial Artists of Hawaiʻi show, Nov. 1 through Dec. 21 at the Downtown Art Center (Chinatown Gateway Plaza building - 1041 Nuʻuanu Ave.). 2,000 works were submitted, only 200 were chosen.

Our Cosmic Bamboo Hui had a wonderful Talent Show in October featuring 16 acts from many generations and world locations.

We'll keep Hedy Asenjo in our prayers as she prepares to move from Colorado to California.

Our continued prayers are with Andrea Low’s husband, Paul, who is recovering well from his recent surgery in Dallas.

IN MEMORIAM

Our beloved Jean Coffman died on August 27. She was an amazing woman who had multiple adventures in her life. Jean enjoyed helping others and was adept at making connections with everyone she met. She was a missionary in Japan, helped found Hale Mohala School, chaired Hawaii Conference UCC Board of Directors twice, and taught ESL and teacher training for 27 years at HPU.  Jean was moderator of

and very involved in our Crossroads community. She loved to travel, swim, sail, sew and knit. She was especially proud of her two daughters and four grandchildren.

Jean died peacefully at home with daughters Kathy and Susan by her side.

Susan Napua passed away on October 14. Many people at church did not know Susan, as she was limited by medical issues and did not usually attend service. She had been a Tahitian dancer in her youth, but mental health issues, diabetes, and kidney disease led to dialysis for many years. She wanted very much to be an attorney, studied very hard, and even flew to California a couple of times to take the LSAT. She was adamant about not being in a care home and passed in her own home with her cat Tara near her.
