Reminders:

  • Encourage your athlete to bring water bottle and running shoes to class! As we get into the warmer months, we like to take advantage of the good weather and walk/jog around the pond that is near the Jam Hops building.
  • Please bring any questions or concerns to Carly (xcel@jamhops.com) or to your athlete’s coach. We can not help if we are not aware of any issues.
  • All athletes that have a practice 3 hours or longer will have a 15 minute break to refuel their bodies. Please help or remind your athlete to bring a healthy, mess free snack for their break. Granola bars, protein bars, fruit, sandwich, etc are all great choices! Chips, goldfish crackers, gummy fruit snack, fruit roll up, etc may not be the best choice to sustain the athlete through a hard working practice.
  • Please send your athlete to practice with extra hair ties and athletic tape.
Private Lessons:
USAG has required an additional waiver for any private lessons. If you are scheduled to do a private lesson with any of our coaches, please fill out the Private Lesson Waiver and turn into your coach. Thank you!

"As athletes level up in competition, the margin of victory continues to get smaller. In the Peak Sports Performance Workshop, Dr. Tony will share the P.R.R. System that he uses to help athletes perform to their fullest potential. This system represents 3 critical time frames in relation to practices and competitions: Prepare (before), Repair (after), and Reserve (between). Dr. Tony will present key strategies to use during each time frame that will increase the athlete’s capacity to perform at a high level and ultimately improve their competitive edge."

OPEN GYM UPDATE
Open gym has been filling up almost every week! Be sure to register early to guarantee a spot.

*Important - Athletes that register for a spot for open gym are expected to attend open gym. Xcel athletes that register and do not attend will be charged the open gym fee. There are no refunds for this fee.

Team Leaders

We would love to have the parents help keep the team spirit alive! If you are willing to be a team leader, please reach out to Carly (Xcel@Jamhops.com).

Potential Team Leader duties:

  • organize team dinners (planning for day/time, communicate to other parents, reserve table if needed)
  • plan gymnastics meet activities (if applicable, such as Ghost and Goblin Halloween contest)
  • plan for parents to sit together at meets, potential parent meet themes

Team leader position is a month long volunteer position and will be specific to the level your athlete is competing in (if your athlete is a silver level athlete, you only have to plan for the silver level). There can be more than 1 team leader per level per month and one is welcome to sign up for more than 1 month.

This is a new activity for the Xcel team and the first to involve parents! I appreciate your patience as we work out the kinks and hope this will help make your time with the Xcel program more enjoyable.

Athlete’s Corner

This month we are focusing on conditioning and stretching that you (athletes and parents) can do at home. Summer is a time of vacations, camps, summer activities, etc. Be sure to do some exercises at home to help keep your strength up for the gym!
