MAY You Lose Yourself in Our Gardens

Spring is in full bloom on the Bridge and as we head into the summer season, we have lots going on that you won't want to miss. Check out our upcoming activities in this month's newsletter.

There's Still Time to Get Your Tickets!

Hurry, tickets are going fast but you still have time to get yours! Tickets are available online only at LLFB.org. Here's what else you need to know:

  • Only a limited amount of tickets are available due to the capacity of the venue.
  • Green River Catering is providing a three-course buffet dinner and our volunteers will provide a decadent dessert bar.
  • A familiar face in our area, local musician Johnnie Blackwell will play for the event.
  • Silent Auction – see photos below for a sampling of items. Auction items will only be available at the event (no online sales).

Beautifully crafted and uniquely painted butterfly houses will make a perfect addition to your garden.

Imagine relaxing in your garden on a hot summer day on this lovely garden bench.

Whether hanging in your kitchen window or on your front porch, these one-of-a-kind sun catchers are a true statement piece.

All proceeds from this FUNDraising and FUNraising event will go toward building and operating our new Education Center. We hope you'll make plans to attend the event on June 2 and have lots of fun! But even if you can't attend in person, you can still be part of this wonderful event. Here's how:

  • Sponsor the event. We have various levels of promotional sponsorship available.
  • Donate items for the silent auction. Drop them off, or we'll pick them up.
  • Donate money to help cover party costs.
  • Help spread the word; we have promotional materials for you.

For additional information or questions, contact Fundraising Co-Chairs Moe Bay (732-804-0876) or Mary Jaeger-Gale (828-243-2281).

The Power of Volunteering

Did you know that we have many volunteer opportunities available at the Bridge? Our volunteers maintain the gardens as well as educate visitors about gardening and its health and environmental benefits.

Even though weeding the gardens seems to be the biggest need at times, we have a wide variety of needs extending well beyond the simple act of digging in the dirt. We have various committees with responsibilities targeting education, community outreach, volunteer coordination, marketing, infrastructure, database and fundraising.

There is a niche for every type of talent a volunteer may possess, and it takes a lot of diverse talents to maintain one common goal – to provide an enjoyable and beautiful environment that we call A Gateway to Somewhere Beautiful.

Jackson Bell, a Lake Lure Classical Academy honor student, has joined our volunteer team for the summer months.

Lisa Willis loving tends the Friendship Garden.

The Irrigation Crew: Bobby Lang, Tom Somerville and Mike Payne

Marla Somerville and Paige Massey discuss plant selections.

We would love for you to join our team of volunteers! We promise you a fulfilling way to give back to our community, a chance to make new friends, learning opportunities, and lots of fun. Interested? Email us or visit our website to complete our volunteer form.

Mr. McGregor Says...

Hey kids, listen up! Two of my little friends just helped our volunteers planting flowers at the Bridge. It's time for you to help plant your gardens at home! You'll have fun starting seeds and watching your flowers and vegetable plants growing bigger and bigger. Just watch out for those pesky rabbits!

Wee workers Henri and Addie prove any age can volunteer!

Friends of the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge is a volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations to help preserve and maintain the Bridge gardens and to support our new Education Center are always appreciated – and tax-deductible.
