EARLY SUMMER MEMO
Thank you to parent Evan Robinson (preschooler Cal and rising 1st grader Lucy) for capturing this celebration on our last day of school. To see a full video of the effort, click here.
Greetings!

We miss you, especially you graduated families! And we thought you might appreciate a midsummer update on things at Riverside, some of which are still relevant to last year...

Happy Friday,
Nelia
NOTES
GRADUATION PICTURES
Thank you to Riverside grandparent and professional photographer Herb Swanson for donating your time and talents to our graduation ceremony this year! His pictures can be viewed here on our website.
LOST & FOUND
Pictures of remaining lost and found can be viewed here, and all those items (plus probably more) are available for pick up on the cubby room porch. Please come by before mid-summer, when they will be donated to H.O.P.E. or our yard sale.
SUMMER MAILINGS
There are two large pieces of mail you'll receive from us over the summer; please keep an eye out for them and respond as needed:
  • Already Sent: June Mailing: semester reports, summer reading/homework, life skills poster, school calendar
  • To Look For: August Mailing: standardized testing results, annual enrollment forms, school calendar

Please also look out for documents regarding tuition vouchers from choice towns. We believe the ones from NEK Choice/Essex North went out be email this week.

We hope that summer homework is off to a good start!
SUMMER HOMEWORK
We believe that a small and purposeful amount of academic work over the summer will help students to stay engaged and help next year's teachers to start the year effectively. Expectations for summer work can be found in the lesson plan docs below, be sure to click on your student's grade level for the coming, 23-24 school year. This information was also mailed in hard copy at the start of this week, and can be found on the new Summer Work page of our website.
SUMMER HELP NEEDED
Roy will be working on a variety of projects this summer, from refinishing floors and patching walls to decluttering outside and organizing the basement. If you would like to pitch in, please let him know.

We also have this request, which could be completed off-site by someone who works with wood: these extremely durable and versatile boxes are some of the most beloved furniture at Riverside, especially by the elementary team. They are more useful and valuable than much of what we could find affordably factory made. If anyone could build and paint more for us, they would be put to good use right away!
ELECTRIC CAR
If your child is interested in helping with the electric car, please reach out to Roy. Along with interested parents and students, he will be working on that this summer. There may be one session next week, then work will resume in August.
NEXT YEAR'S FUNDRAISING EVENTS
Our budget is written with the hope that the parent community will raise $25,000 to help bridge the gap between tuition income and operating expenses through events and sales. Some of our parents have already brainstormed a calendar of event ideas, and hope that others will step up to lead them. If you'd like to join in organizing, please email them soon! If you'd rather lend a hand in a smaller way with a particular event, look for sign-up opportunities at the start of next year.

Alumni families: please mark your calendars, we would love to see you at some of these events!
