MANS Advocates for School Funding

The Michigan Association of Non-public Schools (MANS) stays apprised on all policies, laws, and government actions that impact non-public schools in the state of Michigan and act as an advocate for Michigan non-public schools. They shared the below information:

In reviewing the fiscal year 2025 budget proposed by Governor Whitmer in February, MANS noticed that non-public schools were not included in several funding opportunities, including an appropriation for school safety and mental health initiatives. Non-public schools have been eligible for this funding for the past nine years, including a per pupil distribution over the last two years totaling $36 million. Funding has allowed schools to install and update safety measures in school buildings and has permitted schools to enhance student mental health services.

As advocate for non-public schools, MANS is working hard to inform state legislators of the importance of this funding for students and families. MANS invites you to join in the effort and contact your legislators as well. (Click here to follow a link to the Michigan Catholic Conference website where you can contact your state legislators asking them to include non-public schools in school safety and mental health services funding.)
