July Edition

A Message from the Mayor

July has been filled with many fun events for everyone to enjoy!

We kicked off the month with our annual Vaughan Celebrates Canada Day Event, which was phenomenal! The entertainment lineup was exceptional - thank you to Sam Roberts Band and everyone who came out to celebrate with us this year.

Throughout the month we also had the opportunity to listen to many wonderful talents at our Concerts in the Park series. The next concert is Wednesday, July 26 at 7:30pm at Mackenzie Glen District Park featuring The Caverners - Tribute to the Beatles. I hope to see you there!

We have much to look forward to in August.

IN THE NEWS

Tackling gridlock is our number one priority at the City of Vaughan. It erodes our quality of life, undermines our economic success and damages our natural environment. Several Council-approved initiatives are making strides towards mitigating traffic in the city, including my Nine Point Action Plan to Fight Traffic Gridlock in Vaughan. Among those key initiatives is the Kirby Road Extension Project. Improving the city’s east-west connections is vitally important – it will relieve the pressure on nearby roads and residential neighbourhoods and provide a critical link between Vaughan and Richmond Hill. The Kirby Road Extension will make it easier to travel through our city and really get Vaughan moving.

We are proud that the City of Vaughan, along with our partners at the City of Markham, were selected to receive $2.5 million in funding to bring a new Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network Demonstration Zone to our cities. This provides entrepreneurs, innovators and visionaries an exciting opportunity to safely test their automotive and smart mobility solutions in the real world.

RECAP FROM JULY

To mark Canada’s 156th birthday, the City planned a fun-filled free event that included live entertainment, activities, food vendors, a business zone and much more.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors, Sam Roberts Band and all the other performers for making this year's event exceptional! Canada Day was a huge success and we can't wait to see what's in store for next year!

The 5th Annual Marner All-Star Invitational was held at The Sports Village in Vaughan.

Thank you to Mitch Marner and the Marner Assist Foundation for all that you do to support our community.

This extraordinary event brought our community together with some of the best athletes in the world for a great cause!

I had the chance to visit many of our seniors groups these last few weeks.

It was great seeing everyone together outside, enjoying the beautiful weather.

Looking forward to seeing more members of our community in the coming weeks.
