More families than meets the eye are displaced and wrestling with homelessness all over our city. Since 2011, Charlotte Family Housing has been striving to empower working families struggling with homelessness. Watch this video to learn a little more about what we do.

VIRTUAL VIGIL

Every day our website is inundated with families submitting forms asking for help.

For housing. For safety and security.

While keeping their identities anonymous we'd like to share several forms we've received in the past few weeks. We receive dozens of applications a week online and about twenty weekly walk-in applications at our shelter yet we don't have enough rooms to accept all the families in need.

Since our inception we've served over 1300 families and over 3000 children in our program.

WE INVITE YOU TO GIVE + LOVE LIKE A MOTHER

Whether you are a mother, have a mother, know one or love one... would you consider helping the mighty mothers we serve in our program this Mother's Day and beyond by:



• GIVING This is our greatest need right now and for $100 we can house and provide trauma informed care for one family for one night. We are also hoping to reopen our Hawthorne Family Shelter after much needed repair and the cost is approximately $7,458 per family for their entire stay and care. Perhaps your workplace offers matching gifts- consider us!

• PROVIDING BEDDING Twin and full size comforters / quilts / sheets / pillows for our shelter- (child/teen patterns welcomed for twin size). You can deliver to our Plaza Place Shelter OR bedding can be donated via our amazon wishlist or donation page.

• PROVIDING GROCERY GIFT CARDS for the mothers in both our shelter and housing phases of our program - email us for details.

• VOLUNTEERING From helping with our shelter after-school program to lending your skills from gardening to art, we could use your help!

• SHARING/TAGGING & FOLLOWING US ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA

WOULD YOU REFER FAMILIES TO OUR PROGRAM?

Maybe you work in healthcare or education, maybe you know of someone who could benefit from our program or maybe you know a family struggling with homelessness. We invite you to be our ambassador by referring working (must be 30 hrs per week) families who have been Mecklenburg residents for at least 30 days to our program should they need a trauma-informed care shelter and housing.
