We have some exciting opportunities to share with you and your colleagues.
To help overcome barriers to participation for our in-person conference next year, we are organizing our second Virtual Global Health Week, October 30 to November 3, 2023. Please consider submitting a session for this event. The deadline is September 25. Sessions will be free and open to all.
Also, our 2024 in-person conference, Global Health Without Borders: Acting for Impact will be in Los Angeles, March 7-10, 2024. The deadline to submit panels, abstracts or workshops is September 30. To make a submission, register, and book a discounted hotel room see www.cugh2024.org.
In this newsletter you will also find our new grants program sponsored by Hologic, Inc., our call for nominations for our global health awards and numerous other opportunities you may wish to participate in.

APPLY FOR THE CUGH-HOLOGIC GLOBAL WOMEN'S HEALTH GRANT
CUGH, in collaboration with Hologic Inc., has launched the CUGH-Hologic Global Women’s Health Index Grant Program. The purpose of this grant is to empower the global credibility, utilization, and relevance of the data gathered by the index to improve women’s health policies and practices based on the strategic framework provided by the Hologic Global Women’s Health Index (HGWHI).
Up to 4 awards of $10,000 USD will be granted. To learn more about the program objectives, funding restrictions, eligibility, and application requirements, please visit the request for proposals.
Applications are due October 15th, 2023, and should be submitted using this form.

NEW CUGH INITIATIVE: GLOBAL HEALTH EDUCATORS COMMUNITY (GHECo)
GHECo (“gecko”), the new CUGH Global Health Educators Community, has officially launched! Professors and other educators who teach global health courses, design curricula, and experiential learning activities for nonclinical undergraduate and graduate programs, and/or oversee baccalaureate majors and minors, academic master’s degrees, and research-based doctoral degrees are welcome to become active members of GHECo. CUGH membership is not required.
GHECo hosts monthly Virtual Teachers’ Lounges (VTLs) – online discussion groups

MEDICINE FOR A CHANGING PLANET
Announcing the launch of Medicine for a Changing Planet: a collection of clinical case studies supporting health professionals in providing effective care for patients on a changing planet. This project, a collaboration between the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health and the University of Washington, helps health professionals recognize and treat a variety of health challenges impacted by environmental stressors – spanning infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, malnutrition, heat stress, physical trauma, mental health concerns, and more. UAB GLOBAL HEALTH SYMPOSIUM: PROMOTING EQUITY IN GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS
This two-day hybrid symposium is a forum to discuss best practices for global health partnerships, promote multi-directional research, training, service, and capacity-building collaborations, and provide a backdrop for participants to engage in dialogue and activities to strengthen partnerships.
The symposium will take place September 28-29, 2023. It will be hybrid and in-person in Birmingham, AL.

UW GLOBAL AND RURAL HEALTH FELLOWSHIP ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
The University of Washington Global and Rural Health Fellowship is now accepting applications through October 31 for Internal Medicine and Medicine-Pediatrics physicians who are interested in becoming leaders and experts in the fields of global and rural health. This Global and Rural Health Fellowship is a two-year training program where fellows spend one year living and working with Native populations in Alaska and South Dakota and one year working abroad on medical education and/or research projects with University of Washington faculty and mentors.
