It was such a joy to have Bishop Bruce with us to celebrate the Feast of Saint James the Great!
Maisey was baptized; Maggie, Emily, Amie, and Ruslan were confirmed; Rebekah, Phil, Hayden (not pictured), and Benny (not pictured) were received into The Episcopal Church; and Mary and Jan reaffirmed their faith and witness! All shared in a splendid luncheon provided by the Vestry following the morning's Mass, and Bishop Bruce shared updates on the life of the diocese. We continue to give God thanks and praise for last Sunday's festivities! See more photos here.

FORWARD DAY BY DAY BOOKLETS are now available for August, September, and October.
For those unfamiliar, Forward Day by Day is a booklet of daily inspirational meditations reflecting on a specific Bible passage, chosen from the daily lectionary readings as listed in the Revised Common Lectionary or the Daily Office from the Episcopal Church's Book of Common Prayer. Don't be alarmed to see heavy machinery near the church over the next couple of weeks.
As reported a few weeks ago, we discovered an area of the church property with visible sewage above ground and were shown how the full length of the rectory's line had deteriorated over decades of use. Beginning Monday and lasting 3-4 days, crews will be excavating and replacing nearly 300ft of sewer line.
You may also notice a crane near the church in the coming days, lifting the parish hall's 15-ton air conditioner to replace a leaking coil, which will both provide cooling relief in our warm parish hall and should extend the life of our unit by a decade or more.
Together, these urgent repairs total over $33,000. Your Rector and Vestry are abundantly grateful and overjoyed to share that four anonymous donations have been received - totaling nearly $24,000(!) - toward the cost of these projects. Thanks to the generosity of our parish, these latest gifts and additional funds given for capital projects will cover the cost of repairs without needing to request a line of credit from the Diocese.
Thank you, all, for your generosity in our common life as a parish!
~Fr. Isaac

GET READY FOR FUN!
Registration is now open for Vacation Bible Camp, our 2023 VBS program at St. James Episcopal Church! By scanning the QR code above or clicking this link, you can register students or volunteer to be part of the VBS team.
OVERVIEW
On Friday and Saturday, August 11-12, campers will enjoy games, crafts, lessons, music, and food – all while learning about God's love in this adventure we call life. On Sunday, August 13, campers will help lead the 10:30am Mass by leading us in song and serving in a variety of roles through the service. The campers' crafts will be on display before and after Mass that day.
VOLUNTEERS
VBS relies on a large team of volunteers. We will need help in the kitchen, with crafts, setup/teardown, group leaders, games, teaching, registration, and much more!
If you would like more information on VBS, contact Tatum Trader at children@sj.church or call the church office at 417-881-3073.
