Liza Burke Bates Appointed Assistant Dean and Registrar, MD Program


She brings a deep knowledge of University systems, policies and business process, and is highly collaborative and dedicated to student-centric service.

Ronald Corley, PhD, to Step Down as Chair of Virology, Immunology & Microbiology


Ron worked tirelessly along with a university-wide team to open the NEIDL, now an internationally recognized center of excellence for emerging infectious diseases. In addition, the department ranked No. 15 in NIH funding among Microbiology departments in 2022.

Alumni Medical Library Closed June 19


In observance of Juneteenth, a BU Holiday, the Alumni Medical Library will be closed on Monday, June 19. Regular hours will resume at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20. Stay up to date with Library hours at https://www.bumc.bu.edu/medlib/about-us/hours/

Enhancing Security on the Medical Campus


Beginning June 12, the Instructional (L), Housman Research (R) first floor stairwells and cross-corridor entrances from L to E (Evans), L to A-Building will go to card access only from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. weekdays and 24-hour card access on weekends and holidays, including Intersession.

 

All students, faculty and staff must use their ID badge to gain access through the buildings, stairwells and elevators during these times.


Please wear your BU ID at all times when on campus. Please do not allow others to piggyback through card-accessed doors, including stairwells and elevators; they must use their own ID.


Public safety is a shared responsibility. If you See Something, Say Something by calling BUMC Public Safety at 617-358-4444 when on campus or dialing 911 off campus.

Institutional Support and Resources for Human Subjects Research: Lightning Talks

To close out the academic year, the CRRO is hosting a number of research-affiliated groups at both Boston University Medical Campus and Boston Medical Center for lightning talks on best practices and general research resources and processes. Current confirmed groups and topics include CTO, IRB, GCRU, CRN, IPS, CDW, Standard Operating Procedures, clinicaltrials.gov submissions, and obtaining state-mandated MCSR Research Licenses. This seminar will include a Q&A session at the end of the presentation.


Objectives

  • Identify basic institutional resources for research at BU Medical Campus and BMC
  • Learn best practices and recommendations on a variety of topics
