Dear Friend,

In light of the recent, seemingly relentless, onslaught of flooding and unpredictable weather, Berkshire Agricultural Ventures (BAV) stands with our farming community.

For our farmers, if your farm has experienced flooding damage, we urge you to document and report it (see buttons below), if you haven't done so already. Reporting is the first step to help assess the damage and allocate resources.

State-specific relief and reporting information can be found here:

For farmers in Berkshire, Columbia, Dutchess, and Litchfield counties, if your farm needs additional relief during this time:

  • BAV can provide help through our Resilience Fund
  • We can help with zero-interest or low-cost bridge loans while waiting for state and federal assistance to be funded.

To begin a conversation about financial assistance from BAV, please reach out by phone or through our inquiry form.

Additionally, BAV’s Climate Smart Agricultural Program offers tools, services, and guidance on how to bolster your farm’s resilience against the impacts of climate change.

We are always here for our farming community, as a resource and helping hand. Additional resources are available on our

Emergency Relief page.

These are truly stressful times for our farms, farmers, and food businesses. We must address the root cause of the flooding.

The unfortunate reality is that after these flood waters recede, there will be ripple effects that continue to negatively impact our farmers this growing season.

We must prepare our farms for climate change.

Berkshire Agricultural Ventures provides a wide range of support to assist in building on-farm resilience that helps safeguard agribusinesses, on the front line of climate change.

One of several services BAV provides under our Climate Smart Agriculture Program are free climate risk assessments for farms in our service area of Berkshire, Litchfield, Columbia, and Dutchess counties.

These assessments are a prevention tool that aid in the process of identifying climate related risks to current and future farm operations. BAV will work with the farmer to develop a risk management plan and provide guidance for implementation.

If you are interested in helping us in our mission to support local farms, one action step you can take is to make a contribution to BAV. Your support directly aids our farming community and builds resilience despite an uncertain future.

Together we can lift up our farming community, and ensure our local food landscape lives on for generations.
