Come celebrate Yom Yerushalayim this year at Shir Hadash.

  • On Friday Morning, May 19, Naftali Abramson will lead us in a celebratory musical Hallel you won't want to miss. Following the tephillot, all are invited to a breakfast under our pergola.

  • The festivities continue on Shabbat, during which Naftali will continue to serve as our guest baal tephilla and lead us in spirited tephillot both for Friday night Kabalat Shabbat as well as Shabbat morning.
  • Preceding Mincha Friday night, all are invited to a Sushi reception in honor of Yom Yerushalayim.

  • Following Shabbat morning tephillot, kiddush will take place as usual. Following that at approximately 11:30 AM, there will be a special 30 minute talk by Dr. Miryam Wahrman on "Holy Hands/Safe Hands" – Jewish Roots of Hand Hygiene" (details below).

  • Finally, on Monday, May 22 all are invited to join a special Shir Hadash Tour of the Archeological Wing of Israel Museum led by Tour Guide Ian Brown (details below).
The post kiddush d'var Torah on May 20th will be delivered by Dr. Miryam Wahrman, professor of biology at William Paterson University of New Jersey and the author of Brave New Judaism: When Science and Scripture Collide, as well as hundreds of articles on science, health, and bioethics.
Another installment of our Science & Religion exploration will take place on Monday, May 22 at 2 PM at the Israel Museum. Tour Guide Ian Brown will guide us on a behind the scenes exploration of the Museum's extensive archeological collection. Transportation is on you, but Shir Hadash and our Sinai and Synapses Science and Religion grant will cover the entrance fee to the Museum for the first 20 participants.
Shir Hadash's activities take place in Beit Natan (named after JJ Greenberg - left), located at Yakov Rubin Street #1 in Jerusalem (Click here for Map), and on the Jonathan Pear Farm in Rosh Pina.
