Active Projects--need your help!

Board Survey renders top projects, need to staff the committees.

We have been regularly reporting that your board of directors has been hard at work on many tasks, one of these being the selection of projects to start our new efforts. That process is over and out of the close to three hundred ideas in our archives, the following three have been selected:

  1. An approach to energy--think of all energy as process energy. Look at heat across the process and develop temperature ranges and energy harvesting ideas to move exhaust heat to heat consumers.
  2. Water usage, especially in closed mills. Considering heating and cooling of water, this may be incorporated into No. 1 above.
  3. Optimization Calculations--width vs. speed of new paper machines. This can affect investment decisions and investment optimization considerations. Some work has already been started in this area, it needs to be further developed and turned into a design practice.

If you are interested in serving on a working committee in any one of these areas, please contact Jeff Smith who heads our membership committee for more details. Jeff can be reached at jeffa0954@gmail.com

Of special note...

In a few months, we will be moving this column to the Light Green Machine Institute website. There is not much there right now, but you might as well get signed up and start thinking about moving over there. It is at www.lightgreenmachine.institute.

As always, your comments are appreciated.
