Happy 51 years of Love in Action! This Sunday, we celebrate RMCC’s 51st anniversary. As a body of Christ known as Resurrection, we have continued ministry without interruption for 51 years to demonstrate God’s inclusive love for all persons through Christ-like action. Uninterrupted—even when there were pandemics and hurricanes, or bomb threats and low bank balances, staff changes and building changes. Yes, all of those are plural.

Steadfastly, we keep our eyes on Jesus, celebrating that love wins over and over again, and every now and then, we get to see it unfold right before our eyes. But the truth is, we resiliently continue in faith regardless of seeing or not seeing, while trusting in the presence and promise of Christ.

We invite you this Sunday, having prayerfully prepared, to make a second-mile gift for the ministries of Resurrection. We are so grateful for what you have already given in prayers, time, talent, presence, compassion, and generosity. Our Easter-Anniversary offering asks each of us to stretch beyond our steadfast giving to make a gift we can be proud of and celebrate together the resources needed, given abundantly again!

Traditionally, at RMCC we make gifts in multiples of the year of our anniversary. So for our 51st, that can looklike $51, $102, $510, $1020, $5,100, and so on. You get the idea. It makes me giggle when I see one of you make a donation of $510.51, taking it into the pennies too! Pennies matter! You can share your generosity online https://resurrectionmcc.org/giving-opportunities/ and choose Easter Offering, or by texting the words GIVE LIST to 281-346-9444 entering your amount and choosing Easter, or by mailing or bringing in your check this Sunday with Easter designated in the memo line.

Together, we feed the hungry, clothe the needy, visit the ill and imprisoned, speak out against violence in all the forms it presents itself, celebrate Jesus in the midst of all things, trusting in the deep joy that flows beyond circumstances. Your generosity makes that possible. Your generosity helps us dream of even more.

Come Sunday! Have some cake! Share some stories!

Thank you!

Rev. Elder Troy Treash

PS: If you missed worshiping with us, our services continue to be online through Facebook and YouTube. Catch up on Palm Sunday, Easter, and last Sunday’s Love in Action: No Holding Back!

Coaches Julie Schurr and Christina Morelli will facilitate this dynamic 2 hour online workshop and provide useful tools to help combat many issues that often block effective and healthy connections with others, all while helping each individual as well. The workshop takes place online, and is offered on 3 dates: April 22, May 20, and June 17. Jesus Through the Eyes of Women

April 19th - June 7th

7:00 - 8:30 pm

A six week class, via zoom, discussing the book "Jesus Through the Eyes of Women," by Rebecca McLaughlin. It will span (7 weeks) and will not only encompass the book in addition to seeking to observe Jesus through a different lens, seeking a better understanding of the women who not only supported his ministry as patron's, mothers, friends, family, and even outcasts of the time. Were they merely observers, or were they more, the first female disciples, still teaching us today?

Facilitator: Rev. Vicki Sheil-Hopper

Devotional & Prayer Facebook Group

Every Sunday and Wednesday

New Facebook Devotional Discussion Group: "Called Out"

The experience of growing up "different," having one's identity and relationships questioned or downright rejected, shapes the faith of LGBTQ Christians in ways those outside the community cannot fully understand. LGBTQ Christians need spiritual resources that speak to the unique joys and challenges of their journey.

E. Carrington Heath offers one hundred devotions on such topics as trauma, and more to nurture the faith of our LGBTQ siblings and help friends, family, and allies grow in understanding and faith.

Each Sunday and Wednesday, a new devotion from the book will be posted and discussed online. Join the group for notifications of devotion posts.

You are invited to learn and practice playing the chime instruments. It's an opportunity of delightful celebration in musical expression. Rehearsal times vary. It's helpful if you can read music but not necessary; just as long as you can count & tap your foot simultaneously.

Come on in and say hello. We are happy to have you.

Amazing things happen when we pray for one another in times of grief and celebrate together in times of joy. Send Requests online here: COMPLETE ONLINE FORM or by texting the word RMCCPRAY to 97000. We hope this electronic method will make it quick and easy to communicate the struggles and triumphs you are experiencing in a way that can provide our Pastoral Care Ministers with the information they need to support and encourage you along your journey. The form allows you to provide your name, contact information, the information about your prayer request or celebration, as well as an easy way to request a contact from a Pastoral Care Minister (only if you indicate you'd like a contact). Based on your preferences we can communicate by text, phone, video chat, or even in-person visits when necessary. We want to hear from you!

ASL Service

If you haven't downloaded the church app, it's important that you do! Each time you attend a service in person or virtually, please CHECK IN so we know you were here. Using the church app is easy! You can find detailed instructions here. We hope you will download it and stay connected!

Pride Charities, our partner agency which operates the food pantry at Resurrection MCC, relies on donations and financial support for the food needed to help the 175 families we assist each month. Please consider picking up a few extra extra bags of rice, beans, cereal, Vienna sausages, canned chicken, canned spam/lunch loaf, canned corn, canned green beans, canned peas, or any of the items found on this list. We are now accepting clothes at this time. To keep you, our volunteers, and our community safe, please place your donations in your trunk or back seat, pull up outside the pantry, stay in your vehicle, and our volunteers will remove the items from your vehicle. Volunteers will also be working inside the Clothes Closet this Saturday from 9 - Noon If you'd like to help sort, hang, and organize clothes, please be sure to wear a face mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you.

Text Giving is a great way to give electronically. The first time you'd like to give in this way, just text the word GIVE to 281-346-9444. You'll receive a text back asking for the amount of your donation. After you've entered that, you'll receive a link to provide your name, email address, as well as your debit/credit card or bank account information. That's it! And the next time you'd like to give, all you need to do is text a dollar amount to that same phone number, hit send, and you're done! If you'd like to contribute to a special fund, send a text with the words GIVE LIST to 281-346-9444 and you'll receive a reply asking how much you'd like to give, and then another text asking to which of our special funds you'd like your donation applied (i.e. General Gifts & Tithes, Foundation First Activities Building Fund, Texas Winter Storm Relief, Pride Charities Food Pantry, La Casa de Todos).
