Stallions in the Spotlight

Students stopped by the Little Theater during their lunch periods last week to learn about vocations, including the consecrated religious life, priesthood and Holy Matrimony. The presentation was a part of the Seminarian Bike Tour.

Sophomore Weston Hewit qualified for Nationals in his quad (4x) with Westerville Crew this past weekend, and will be traveling to Sarasota, FL to compete at the 2024 USRowing Youth National Championships. Good luck Weston!

Sophomore Roselin Maldonado received the title for Miss Teen Columbus Latina. She is on a journey to become Miss Teen Ohio Latina, and will be representing SFD at the Miss Ohio Latina Pageant next March.

Tomorrow the Italian II students will participate in a special reading project sponsored by the Italian Consulate in Detroit. They will have a chance to speak with Sabina Colloredo over Zoom. Colloredo is one of the most beloved authors of Italian children’s literature. She will meet with the students to talk about her book 4 Stagioni +1, which describes in easy and fun rhymes climate changes, the rhythms of nature, and the emotions and curiosity of young people as they grow and discover the world around them. Colloredo lives in Milan, Italy, and has published over one hundred books including picture books, novels, biographies, and poetry, which have been translated into many languages.

Math teachers Mrs. Sharritts and Mrs. Yerkey, along with former Science teacher, Mrs. Scott, recently attended alumna Rebekah Oladokun's Eagle Scout Award ceremony. Rebekah '23 is credited for helping to bring Girls Wrestling to DeSales, and currently coaches the girls wrestling team at Dayton Archbishop Carroll. She also has been accepted as a Ranger in Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico for 11 weeks this summer.

Class of 2024 - Final Transcripts

Graduating Seniors, please know that your final transcript will be sent to the college or other postsecondary institution that you listed in your Naviance Senior Graduation Survey. Final transcripts will be sent out electronically between June 10-14, 2024. After your college receives the final transcript, there may be a delay of up to two weeks before your college lists your final transcript as received in your student portal. This delay is necessary because admission counselors review each final transcript individually to confirm that each student passed all required classes and fulfilled all the college’s expectations for enrollment.

Sometimes, a student’s college plans change over the summer. When this happens, a final transcript will only be sent to the new college if the student requests it. To do so, please complete the Alumni Transcript Request Form.

2023-2024 Sick Policy

Sick children often expose other students and school staff members to illnesses and germs. These illnesses are disruptive to the educational process and to other children and their families. Students who are ill should be kept home to help control the spread of germs. Please follow the guidelines linked here to help keep our school safe and healthy.

Spiritual Reflection

Heavenly Father, through sin we curve inward upon ourselves, selfishly desiring to be served and honored by others. Open our hearts in humility to receive the gift of the cross and so give ourselves away in service to others for love of Christ. Amen.
