It's important to capture and amplify underrepresented voices in our community and ensure their thoughts on inclusion are embedded into our future planning. Please help us spread the word to others!

Earlier this month Amani and our Gateways for Growth (G4G) partners at Greater Fort Wayne, Inc. and Downtown Fort Wayne hosted the first G4G Steering Committee Meeting with leaders representing diverse sectors of our community. The meeting centered on strengths, obstacles, and aspirations in four focus areas: Education, Economic Development and Entrepreneurship, Civic Engagement, and Connected Communities. We are looking forward to working with these incredible individuals representing many organizations and businesses!

Creating Connections with Indianapolis Leaders

Amani’s Leadership Team spent a day in Indianapolis connecting and sharing our work with incredible leaders in our capital city. Having the opportunity to connect with peers, to learn from each other, share our challenges and successes in creating more inclusive communities is time well spent.

We are so thankful to have met Deputy Chief Joseph Pinnell from Governor Eric Holcomb's office of Equity, Inclusion, and Opportunity, and share what can be done at a state level of government to better support immigrants and refugees and strengthen our workforce.

We also want to share our gratitude with our multicultural nonprofit partners: Cole Varga and Rachel Van Tyle of Exodus Refugee Immigration, Gurwinder Kaur, Christina Arrom and their team at the Immigrant Welcome Center, and Colin Renk and Svitlana Ramer of the The International Center. Thank you for your work and thank you for your partnership!

Welcoming Fort Wayne Spotlight:

Three Rivers Festival International Village

International Village took place July 14th and 15th as part of the Three Rivers Festival! Amani joined the fun and showcased the rich culture of the Republic of Sudan at our booth. It was an incredible experience featuring the food, art, dance, culture, and traditions of those who have made Fort Wayne their home. It is such a joy for our organization to participate each year and celebrate so many amazing cultures in our community.

We partner with immigrant and refugee families and the community to promote safety, encourage personal growth, and foster a spirit of belonging.
