Our campuses have been, and continue to be, busy places this summer! Although a few weeks of Camp remain, our preparations for the new school year are well underway. Be on the look out, in the coming weeks, for emails from classroom teachers as well as administration so you are up to date on what to expect for the new school year.

Preparing for School

Parents often ask what they should do to support the school curriculum at home. In the Montessori classroom we focus on supporting independence, and self reliance. This is done by preparing the environment (classrooms, bathrooms, outdoor spaces) to meet the child at a precise developmental level ie. low sinks, child sized furniture and tools. The independence and "I can do" attitude which develop from these experiences leads to proactive learners, increased executive functioning, and positive self esteem. During this school year we will be offering Parent Education Nights, conferences and classroom visits to help you learn more about how to support your child's education and development. Please make every effort to attend.

Attendance and Timeliness

The number one way to support your child's success in school is by insuring they are at school and on time each day. Consistent, timely attendance gives a strong message that you value education and shows respect to the staff and other students. Late arrivals take staff from their work and disrupt classrooms by interrupting the focus that we are working hard to develop. Please make it a priority to bring your child to school each day and on time. Plan doctor appointments and vacations outside of school hours-this is particularly vital for kindergarten students.

Summer Camp

During Summer Camp, the toddler and primary children participated in a wide variety of activities from food preparation to science experiments, STEM activities and art exploration (to name a few). Combining the campuses allowed for expanded outdoor play and new social opportunities, as well as staff collaboration and support.

Thank you Ms. Debbie for your hard work and commitment to making this a great experience for children and staff! We are grateful to the teachers and assistants for all of their efforts in providing fun and safe learning environments for the children.
