Tickets Available for Flat Rock Empty Bowls Fundraiser


Help children in need and go home with a handcrafted bowl (and a full belly) at the 6th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for the Flat Rock Backpack Program, Sunday, August 13, in the Parish Hall of St. John in the Wilderness. Ticket sales help to feed almost 200 children in the area.

Grants Available from Grace Church Foundation


Applications for grants from the foundation at Grace Church, Morganton are now available and must be completed and returned by Thursday, August 31. The Grace Episcopal Church Foundation distributes grants for religious, educational, scientific, missionary, and other charitable purposes approved by the Trustees. Any 501(c)3 organization that fits the guidelines is welcome to apply.

St. Luke's Celebrates 125 years


The congregation of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Asheville celebrated the 125 years this past Sunday. The celebration event included an invitation to dress up in 1890s garb, liturgy from the 1892 prayer book and hymns from the era.

St. Matthias Receives Foundation Grant


The Episcopal Foundation of WNC recently announced an award of $20,000 to support the preservation of a Black heritage site, St. Matthias Episcopal Church. After almost 130 years, the church buildings and earthwork foundations are threatened by moisture intrusion.

The grant includes funding for the preparation of Site Development and Landscape Plans to guide future investments.

New Episcopal Communities Grants Available

Apply online by Aug. 1 for the second round of 2023 New Episcopal Community grant funding, including discernment grants up to $5,000; seed grants and growth grants up to $30,000; and harvest grants up to $40,000.

New Episcopal Community grants are available for dioceses and mission developers who are envisioning, planning, or growing new worshipping communities and missional enterprises throughout the church.

Young Attendees Come Home from EYE with Messages of Belonging

The Episcopal Youth Event, or EYE, concluded July 7 with workshops, province meet-ups and a closing plenary featuring Julia Ayala Harris, the president of the House of Deputies. Ayala Harris and other speakers from varying vocations focused on the theme “Send.” Presiding Bishop Michael Curry gave a sermon during morning worship July 6.
