23-24 NDMTSS Academics & Behaviors Trainings
Deadline to register for Building Your System is Thursday, September 7th.
Virtual kickoff for BYS will be held on September 11th, 2023.
Each NDMTSS event has its own schedule- read carefully!
A detailed calendar is linked on the Roadmap. MOUs are also linked- they provide information about each training, the cost, dates/locations, and a place to identify your school leadership team who will participate in the trainings.
Building Your System is a foundational introduction to NDMTSS, Essential Components, Implementation Drivers, and Understanding Tier 1, 2, & 3 Supports. It is a pre-requisite for all other NDMTSS trainings.

Improving Academic Literacy: Student Engagement
Deadline to register is Friday, September 15th.
Work with a team of teachers from multiple schools to combine research-based strategies with implementation, feedback, and coaching.
Utilize the practice of microteaching and public practice as a vehicle to enhance teaching and learning by exploring the implementation of student engagement strategies to create a classroom culture of "Everyone Does Everything!"
Part 1 will be held Sep 26th in Valley City.
Part 2 will be held Nov 8th- location TBD based on participant location.
Part 3 will be held between Dec 11-14 as a two-hour online session.

Foundations of Reading Instruction & Intervention
This three-part professional learning series is designed to provide educators with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to address a variety of students' needs in reading.
Deadline to register for this event is Tuesday, September 5th.
Day 1 will be September 18th, 2023
Day 2 will be October 19th, 2023 or November 6th, 2023*
Day 3 will on January 22nd, 2024.
*Day 2 dates vary by location.
This training is aligned to the Science of Reading and will be led by consultant Shannon Harken.

Supporting Secondary Struggling Readers
This two-part professional learning series is designed to provide secondary educators with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to respond to student reading needs by matching to appropriate instructional strategies at the secondary level.
Session 1 will be November 7th, 2023
Session 2 will be January 23rd, 2024
This training is aligned to the Science of Reading and is a companion to the NDMTSS: Foundations of Reading Instruction and Intervention learning series. It will be led by consultant Shannon Harken.

2023 North Dakota School-Based
Occupational and Physical Therapy Conference
Are you an OT or PT in North Dakota? This conference is for you! Registration is OPEN until September 6th- hurry and register!
This two-day conference is coming back to engage and empower school-based therapists in the realm of Occupational and Physical Therapy. This year, the conference will share practices, extend learning, build connections, and provide expertise from national and state-based experts, as well as provide therapists with meaningful specific-to-ND content.

Girls Build Solutions Celebrates Flight Crew Member from ND
North Dakota Afterschool Network Lead, Kristin Knorr, attended the Million Girls Moonshot: Girls Build Solutions event in July 2023 in Atlanta, GA with community partner Arin Casavant with North Dakota's Gateway to Science and North Dakota Flight Crew Member Malory K, a rising 10th grader from Cavalier, ND with a passion for cybersecurity and the critical thinking that goes hand-in-hand with it!

Medicaid Renewals - Stay Covered ND
Since April 1, 2023, North Dakota has begun regular Medicaid renewals for people whose coverage was temporarily extended due to the COVID-19 public health emergency to make sure they still qualify.
This means that some Medicaid members may lose their coverage if they don't take simple steps now.
Health coverage is critical for children to thrive in school and in life.
If you care for a child enrolled in ND Medicaid, we may need to contact you to see if they still qualify for coverage. Here are THREE actions you need to take to prepare.
- Make sure your contact information is correct.
- Check your mail.
- Complete your renewal form (if you get one).

2023 North Dakota MTSS Conference
June 12-14
Our annual 3-day conference featured many great speakers, notably:
Dr. Stephanie Stollar, founder and consultant of Stephanie Stollar Consulting, LLC;
Dr. Amanda VanDerHeyden, President of Education Research & Consulting at SpringMath;
Dr. Judy Elliott, educational consultant for EduLead; and
Dr. Cory Notestine, Director of Tier 2&3 Solutions at CharacterStrong.
Their keynotes and breakout sessions were highly rated by survey participants and many people drew their main takeaways from them.

2023 ND Out-of-School Time & Early Childhood Summit

SEEC Staff Attends Governor's Summit on Innovative Education
Many of our staff attended the annual Summit to listen to ND Governor Doug Burgum deliver the keynote address and to hear a host of other interesting topics presented on. SEEC's own Jen Glasheen and Danette Brown hosted a breakout session discussing the function of Regional Education Associations and their offerings.

LETRS Volume 1 Implementation
134 participants completed each of the 4 units, as well as a pre-test and a post-test.
On the pre-test, 11.2% scored over 80%.
On the post-test, 99.3% scored over 80%.
100% of participants improved their score.

SEEC Staff Potluck
This August, as more staff came back into the office from their summer, we held a big staff potluck! We grilled burgers, brats, and hotdogs and lots of people brought desserts and sides.
