2023 Awardees
Hartman’s Distilling Co, located at 55 Chicago Street, and founded by Buffalo natives, Jen and Justin Hartman, is a destination meant to embrace a brand centered on family, enjoying life, and savoring each moment. First conceived while Jen and Justin were living in New York City, the husband and wife duo wanted to bring an elevated craft cocktail scene to Buffalo, while educating their guests about quality spirits. While HDC proudly features their award winning straight blended bourbon as their flagship product, their single barrel rye whiskey has also made a splash earning a double gold medal in the 2021 San Francisco International Wine and Spirits competition. This was the highest awarded whiskey to ever come from the State of New York. In addition to the whiskey products, HDC also produces an award winning Vodka, Loganberry Vodka, and Gin, which were joined by ready to drink canned Vodka Seltzers, now available in three flavors.
Helping Children in Need Sleep Better
Jerry Sheldon, Sleep in Heavenly Peace
All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. In Idaho and across the US, too many boys and girls go without a bed—or even a pillow—to sleep on. These children end up sleeping on couches, blankets, and even floors. This can affect their happiness and health.
That’s where Sleep in Heavenly Peace comes in. We’re a group of volunteers dedicated to building, assembling and delivering top-notch bunk beds to children and families in need.
Paradise Wine
SUSTAINABLE | ORGANIC | BIODYNAMIC | MINIMAL INTERVENTION 🍷
Paradise Wine stocks an inventory of hand-selected wine and spirits, and they taste each and every offering on their shelves. They are the everyday wine shop with new affordable discoveries arriving every week. Their relationship with their customers is first priority. Their continual goal is to find organic wines that are delicious on the palate.

In addition to sourcing wines of character at great value, they also only buy wines that are farmed in adherence with sustainable, organic or biodynamic practices in the vineyard. For those who enjoy wines made with minimalist intervention, their inventory features a vast selection of biodynamically farmed and natural wines, made with low or no added sulphur, indigenous yeast, and no filtration.
Richard Hamilton, Deep South Taco
Deep South Taco restaurants have been a staple in Buffalo for almost nine years now. The Hamilton family, consisting of Richard, Shannon, and their son Christian, made Buffalo their permanent home after Richard's time at Delaware North. Over the past nine years, they invested $4 million into their restaurants and have since become integral members of the community.

Today, Deep South Taco has two locations in Buffalo and plans to expand beyond the state. With nearly 100 employees, the restaurant has given back over $800,000 in donations, gifts, and more to local charities, organizations, schools, and fundraisers. Their contributions to Roswell Park and other cancer-centric charities in the last two years alone have reached over $100,000. In addition, they have provided over $150,000 in free meals or discounts to first responders and healthcare professionals.
