Vetter's Tried-and-True Methodology for Successful Commercial Preparedness
Pharmaceutical companies often face obstacles as they approach their drug product launch. As a result, many choose to engage a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) as a strategic partner to adequately prepare their unique molecule’s path to market.

Though drug customers partner with us at all points in the process, from Phase I through commercialization, market readiness is the time when our support is very valuable. With potential hurdles including supply chain bottlenecks, infrastructure requirements, and knowledge of the marketplace, biotech startups and pharma giants alike rely on the capabilities that Vetter brings.

By joining forces, the drug developer and Vetter can work together to hone a unique launch management process to meet the individualized needs of the molecule. Driven by a predetermined launch date, supply chain availability and market need, the two teams work as one to achieve commercialization.
Chicago: Top Metro
Site Selection Magazine, an international industry-leading business publication, released its annual corporate expansion and relocation rankings, naming Illinois 2nd in the nation for corporate projects and Chicago the Top Metro for the 10th year in a row. The publication noted 487 Illinois projects in 2022, moving the state up from the number three spot in the previous year’s rankings.

The issue named the Chicago metropolitan area as the Top Metro for corporate investment for the 10th straight year. With a growing reputation as a tech hub with Google’s purchase of the Thompson Center and new headquarters moving in, such as Kellogg, Chicago continues to bolster its reputation as a global powerhouse.

Illinois recently launched a $400 million invest in Illinois fund to attract large businesses and stay competitive with other states, expanded incentives for the clean energy industry, and made it easier for companies to apply for EDGE – the state’s primary incentive program.

“Illinois is open for business and leading the way as one of the top 10 states for corporate investment, with Chicago named the number one metro for the 10th year in a row,” said Governor Pritzker. “Thanks to our nation-leading infrastructure revitalization, talented workforce, and growing economy, Illinois is the best place to do business.””
Mattiq: World Changing Ideas Award
Mattiq formerly Stoicheia , a company revolutionizing electrochemical process development to achieve the commercially viable sustainable production of chemicals and fuels, announced it’s a recipient in the prestigious 2023 World Changing Ideas Awards from Fast Company.

The awards program honors companies innovating to deliver transformative benefits to society. Mattiq was recognized for its first-in-kind approach to developing and commercializing technologies that will decarbonize chemical and fuel production, which remains one of the hardest-to-abate sectors. Key focus areas include the reduction or elimination of scarce, expensive metals like iridium for clean hydrogen production and the conversion of biomass into net-zero chemicals and fuels.

Mattiq’s technology enables industrial partners to accelerate the process of bringing best-in-class electrochemical solutions to market, reducing production costs, carbon footprint, and supply chain risk.

“It’s thrilling to see the creativity and innovation that are so abundant among this year’s honorees,” says Fast Company editor-in-chief Brendan Vaughan.

Opening a New Research Center in Chicago
Priscilla Chan reflects on CZI’s progress in science, which is changing lives and opening extraordinary new horizons in medicine.

The next Biohub location will be in Chicago, Illinois, where leading research institutions will build new technologies so scientists can measure biological processes in human tissues, with an ultimate goal of understanding and treating the inflammatory states that underlie many diseases.

The Chicago Biohub catalyzes collaboration between researchers from the University of Chicago, Northwestern University, and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to study inflammation. Inflammation plays a key role in many diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease, and over time, we hope their research will help us better understand these diseases.

To make transformational discoveries, you instead have to create a space where scientists, engineers, doctors, physicists and more — people who aren’t normally incentivized to work together — can focus on a wildly ambitious scientific challenge that requires technological innovation and a 10- to 15-year time horizon to solve.
