Each year, hundreds of riders eagerly participate in the free Golden Spoke Ride, which celebrates the 170+ mile system of connected multi-use trails that span the Wasatch Front. This year’s event highlights not only the direct trail connections between Ogden and Provo but also the newly completed Parley’s Trail bridge connecting to the Jordan River Parkway and the Crosstowne Trail in West Valley City leading to Decker Lake.

This year's ride on Saturday, May 11th features five rides of varying lengths, including two shorter, family-friendly rides. With staggered start times, the rides are designed to converge at Tracy Aviary’s Jordan River Nature Center in South Salt Lake for an End-of-Ride Event from 11 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Participants will have an opportunity to explore the newly expanded Nature Center, food trucks, music, vendors, community information booths, and to pick up a day pass to use the UTA FrontRunner, TRAX, and bus system to get back to your starting location - or you can ride back!

Our Map of the Month actually features two Golden Spoke-related maps – the event map (English, Spanish, or interactive map) for the May 11th Golden Spoke Ride, and a printable coloring map of the regional system so you can keep track of your progress towards riding the whole Golden Spoke trail system!

We wish everyone a happy and safe bike month! For more information, route maps, and free registration, please visit GoldenSpoke.net or click on the image below. Enjoy the ride!

H2Oquirrh, A Vision for Salt Lake County’s Southwest Waterways Survey

In the spirit of Bike Month, here is an opportunity to guide long-term improvements and create a unified vision for the streams, creeks, washes, and canals encompassing 183 square miles of southwest Salt Lake County from West Jordan to Bluffdale. The area’s rapid growth necessitates careful planning to preserve natural areas, anticipate increasing development, and identify opportunities to establish new walking and biking connections along these corridors.

This survey is an excellent opportunity to share your input on the future of these essential areas; help us determine how they can better serve our community and become destinations where you can walk and bike safely. This effort, supported by our Transportation and Land Use Connection Program (awarded in 2022), invites your participation in the survey, which will remain open through May 31st.
