Request of Scoutmasters:
The Spirit of Adventure Council is providing National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) this summer. NYLT is designed to provide Senior Patrol Leaders, Patrol Leaders, Instructors, and other older Scouts with a tool kit of skills to enable them to readily fulfill their leadership responsibilities, and those successful leadership experiences will be of lifelong benefit.
NYLT will be held June 30 – July 6, 2024 at T. L. Storer Scout Camp, Barnstead, NH. Jacob Westerman will be the Course Director. It will be a linked troop program with a boy troop and a girl troop with separate leadership and shared activities.
We want to benefit many troops with this experience and are anxious that your troop is represented. We would like to personally invite your best candidates to attend this course. Please nominate your troop’s top leaders to receive an invitation sent to them and their parents.
NYLT requirements:
1. Have current BSA Health and Medical Form Parts A, B, and C.
2. Must be at least 13 years of age.
3. Have earned the First Class rank by the opening of the course.
4. Has unit leader recommendation.
Send us your best candidates, we want to be of assistance to every possible troop. Please send the name, email address of Scout and parents and/or their mailing address especially if you know that email does not serve them well. Send to George Wardle, Course Advisor, at geordie1953@msn.com.
At NYLT, your youth leaders will be able to exchange ideas with scouts from other troops; they will become capable and comfortable in their leadership positions; and they will be able to assist you with the training of other youth leaders in the troop.
