News & Notes from Fr. Pete Jankowski

Blackmail Pictures of Me at Christmas...

Last week, one of the faithful from Morris, IL found an old article about my 1995 Diaconate Ordination from the Joliet Diocese's "Catholic Explorer" Newspaper. This is the picture from that article. Man, I am getting OLD!!! To read the article about this young, naive soon to be ordained cleric, CLICK HERE!!!

What just happened today due to the kindness of Diane Marcotte, Joanne Hermann, Ema Elvir and a host of others humbled this priest and served as a metaphor as to the kindness of these parishes during the weeks prior to Christmas. We have had a lot going on at the parish - we have invested in a parish mission, invited the bishop to our parishes and celebrated the Our Lady of Guadalupe and Las Posadas Services (thank you Fr. Moises Mesh, CSV for preaching!!!). We have distributed gifts to the El Centro Vilaseca Daycare Center, the Manteno Veterans Home and a whole slew of needy families in the area. We have received just under $300,000 in services to upgrade our gymnasium (I don't even know how to thank adequately Van Drunen Farms, Joe Cohn, Joe Kraus and sons, and Cousins Pluming for their time working on this gym and church project!). I have no idea how many Christmas meals we have distributed to the families in our area - I DO know that we were the recipient of hundreds of cases of Frito Lay products that helped provide indigestion to scores of needy folks in the area. There is no way I can thank all of you for what you have offered this Advent Season except to say this - if I could embrace a scintilla of faith that you all have offered in God's name to the faithful in this area, I would be a much better priest and Christian in this journey of faith. THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR KINDNESS AND LOVE!!!

CONCERNING OUR CHRISTMAS MASSES...

Below is our pre-produced online Christmas Mass for your consideration. Because of Winter Storm Warning that is in effect this weekend, we completely understand your safety and health needs and we encourage you to use whatever caution you need to take to be well. I will try to record at least one of the in-church Masses online for your consideration. You are most welcome to join us in church - please know we care for you and we love you in God's name. We will do what we can to help.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL PARISHES - YOUR GIFTS ENSURE WE ARE ABLE TO CONTINUE OFFERING WHATEVER SERVICES WE CAN FOR YOUR BENEFIT.

PARISH MISSION

Highlights from this year's Parish Mission with Fr. Tom McCarthy, OSA on November 27-28

From One of Our Online Friends...

Thank you for putting the parish mission online. I watched all three of Father McCarthy's talks. It meant so much to me. The end of November is my time of reflection. Three major things in my life took place at the end of this month - my grandmother's death (November 27) and my first pastor's death (November 28) and my parents wedding anniversary (November 30). These three individuals had the most influence on my life. I reflected on the old days the parish had missions similar to this one. You are doing a great job helping me bring back the beautiful memories. Thank you for everything you are doing. Everything is very much appreciated,
