WHAT:

Southern California Edison (SCE) is scheduled to install new power lines across all lanes of SR-55.

This work will require a full closure of northbound and southbound SR-55 between Edinger Avenue and Dyer Road. In addition, the following ramps, connectors, and street will be closed:

• Southbound Dyer Road off-ramps
• Northbound Dyer Road on-ramps
• Southbound Edinger Avenue on-ramp
• Southbound McFadden Avenue on-ramp
• Southbound I-5 to southbound SR-55 HOV connector
• Southbound I-405 to northbound SR-55 HOV connector
• Westbound Warner Avenue over SR-55

WHEN:

Northbound and southbound SR-55 as early as 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly, Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27. Crews may need to return the following weekend to complete the work.

This work may be loud. The schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen operational issues.

Crews are in the process of constructing a new retaining wall along the MacArthur Boulevard on-ramp to southbound SR-55. 

Contractors have completed shoring installation and will continue to remove the existing wall and perform structure excavation through the end of the month.

OCTA, in cooperation with Caltrans, is improving 4 miles of SR-55 between I-405 and I-5. The project will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time by adding one regular lane and one carpool lane in each direction. Also, the project will add merge lanes between several interchanges and stripe carpool lanes for continuous access, augmenting safety on the freeway by making merging easier. These enhancements are expected to create a better, smoother driving experience for motorists.
