Dear SMA Community,
How do they do it? I often hear this question when asked how school volunteers pull off successful events year after year while fulfilling duties with their careers and families. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that many of us are unaware of. I urge you to check in with the gala committee to see how they do it. Thank you to our gala chairs, Genevieve Suzuki, Amy Reh, and all members of the committee who have met weekly and dedicated so much time and effort towards this year's event.
As you know, tuition does not cover the amount it costs SMA to educate a student. Therefore, we must have 2 large fundraisers per year to make up the difference (historically: Walkathon/Turkey Trot & Gala). Are there other ways of having fun while raising money? Can we break tradition? Why not? Please share your ideas. Get involved. Email our PTG to see how you can share your gifts and talents.
I look forward to seeing you all Saturday night at the gala or while bidding online from wherever you may be. Remember that bidding closes at 9 pm. Set a reminder on your phone! Tomorrow will be the last opportunity to get your raffle tickets in the drum by noon, unless you are attending the event.
