Celebrate Rising Tide's Staff & Faculty During Teacher Appreciation Week

The first week of May is Teacher Appreciation Week! The RTCPS Parent Group is organizing activities next week to express our gratitude for our Rising Tide staff. Please click here or read below to see how you can participate in showing your appreciation for all the staff does for our children every day.

  1. Monday, May 1 – We’re going to stock the staff break room – because everyone needs a snack now and again! We’re going to stock the breakroom to provide some healthy (and some maybe not-so-healthy) snacks for the team.
  2. Tuesday, May 2 – Breakfast Buffet! We’re getting bagels & cream cheese, oatmeal & cereal cups, yogurts, and fresh fruit for the staff to kick start the day with our thanks.
  3. Wednesday, May 3 – Lunch is on us! On the early release day, we will provide a luncheon to the team. We are seeking donations of sweet treats for dessert.
  4. Thursday, May 4 – Notes of appreciation. We’re still working on this one, but we are seeking ways to engage the students and their families in expressing appreciation for all the Rising Tide staff does for our children all year.

We know how busy everyone is these days, so we’re putting it all in one Sign-Up Genius -- click here to see what you can do to help. The Sign-Up Genius also explains how you can donate funds toward these efforts if shopping and dropping doesn’t seem possible in the next few days.

We'd love to have every Rising Tide family participate in some way to help us say THANK YOU to our kind and dedicated middle and upper school staff.

Summer Painting Studio Enrichment Classes

Only a few spaces remain in each week. Sign up now!

This July, we will once again be offering two weeks of our popular Summer Painting Studio classes. These classes are open to all students in grades 5-12, as well as incoming students who will be new to Rising Tide in the 2023-2024 school year. Students of all levels of experience will expand on their visual art skills while exploring painting in this fun and informative studio workshop. Each student will be working with easy-to-learn techniques to take their ideas from small sketches to larger-sized compositions with confidence. Students will enjoy learning a variety of new application techniques to incorporate into their own style and creativity as they compose their own work.

Session One runs July 10-14 and Session Two runs July 17-21, 2023. Classes start at 8:00 am and end at 12:00 pm each day. The cost is $225 per week-long session. If you have any questions about these classes, please feel free to contact Mr. Walker at 508-747-2620 ext. 300 or via email at twalker@risingtide.org.

Additional Enrollment Period Open

Rising Tide has opened an additional Enrollment Application Period for the 2023-2024 school year. This additional Enrollment Period runs from Monday, April 3, 2023 through Friday, May 12, 2023. The school currently has limited seats available for grades 9, 10, 11, and 12 and is therefore accepting applications for those grades. Rising Tide will also accept applications for a waitlist pool for grade 5, as there is a possibility that the current waitlist for grade 5 may be exhausted. If the current waitlist for grade 5 is exhausted, the school will schedule a lottery drawing for the grade 5 waitlist pool at that time.

Rising Tide currently has long waiting lists in grades 6-8, determined through the Primary Enrollment Lottery held on February 15, and does not anticipate exhausting the waiting lists for those grade levels; therefore the school is not able to accept applications for grades 6-8 in this Enrollment Period. If necessary, Rising Tide will conduct an additional enrollment lottery for applicants for grades 9-12 in a virtual public forum from the school on Monday, May 15, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

Enrollment applications are due by Friday, May 12, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. All applicants, including siblings of current students, must submit the one-page application by the deadline to be eligible for enrollment.

If interested in becoming a student, all applicants, including siblings of current students, must submit the one-page application by the deadline to be eligible for enrollment. Applications can be completed online here or downloaded here. Copies are also available at the front desk of the school located at 59 Armstrong Road in Plymouth. Completed paper applications can be faxed to (508) 747-1826, emailed to mjackson@risingtide.org, mailed, or dropped off to the front desk. Please note that no proof of residency is required along with a student’s application.

Recent Happenings At Rising Tide

Seniors Selected to Speak at the Rotary Club

Kat Schelleng and Greenleigh Perry represented Rising Tide today as senior speakers at the Plymouth Rotary Club. Two seniors from Rising Tide are invited each month to speak at the Rotary Club of Plymouth meetings.

Upper School Students Visit the Galapagos Islands

Rising Tide upper school students enjoyed visiting the Galapagos Islands last week. First, they visited the island of Santa Cruz where they visited  Rancho Primicias, the Giant Tortoise Reserve, followed by a hike through the lava tunnels. They also hiked into Tortuga Bay to swim with marine iguanas and visited the Charles Darwin Research Station. Students then traveled to San Cristobal via speed boats to hike into El Junco Lake, and they later snorkeled with sea turtles and sea lions at La Loberia Beach! They enjoyed another fun-filled day of boating, swimming, and snorkeling at Kicker Rock where they saw a variety of marine species, including hammerhead sharks, sea turtles, black tip sharks, sea lions, tropical fish, and more! They visited Quito and enjoyed a guided visit to Compania de Jesus and the Virgin Mary monument, El Panecillo. They learned about the cocoa bean and enjoyed taste testing various samples of dark chocolate. They visited the Intinan Museum at the equator and did many experiments to test the difference between being in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres.
