Seedlings delivered

to celebrate Arbor Day

Many volunteers and Forestry board members participated in the annual tree seedling delivery on April 19. 500 seedlings were delivered to Grand Junction residents who completed the seedling request form. Delivery began in 2020 and has remained popular ever since. Seedlings were also available at Southwest Arbor Fest on April 22.

Riverside Parkway

Landscape Renovations

Tree planting is taking place in the median along Riverside Parkway. To keep crews safe while working, the inside eastbound and inside westbound lanes closest to the median will be closed. The outer lanes will remain open for motorists. Closures are anticipated from 5 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 2 and Friday, May 5, 2023.

Dos Rios Playground Installation

The new playground is installed at Dos Rios Park, adjacent to the bicycle playground, along the riverfront. The playground includes a climbing net structure with two summits, a climbable structure modeled off the Humpback Chub, an endangered fish found in the Colorado River, and additional smaller play features.

Grand Junction named

Tree City USA Recipient

Grand Junction has been recognized by the Arbor Day Foundation, the U.S. Forest Service, and the National Association of State Foresters as a Tree City USA recipient to honor its commitment to effective urban forest management.
