Haverfood Festival Recap:

On Friday, June 9 the Haverfood Festival welcomed over 1500 people to the township municipal building lot for an evening of food, dancing, face painting, raffles and more. We are thankful to our community, committee, and volunteers who helped to make this such a successful fundraiser. Thank you for supporting our work and taking the time to engage with the staff and board of Discover Haverford.

Discover Haverford Welcomes Tile by Vince

Tile by Vince is proud to celebrate over three years of operation in Havertown! Originally from Upper Southampton Township PA, Vincent Parker attended the University of Virginia where he studied English and Literature. After that, he gained a postgraduate degree in instructional leadership and education from Neumann University. This would mark the beginning of his teaching career. “I’m a teacher first and foremost” says Vince, who taught English both at the middle and high school levels for nearly five years.

Reza's internship with Discover Haverford is part of the Haverford College Whitehead Internship Program. This program was created to encourage Haverford students to participate in summer work experience related to entrepreneurial endeavors, small business enterprise, venture capital, or investment finance activities. The Whitehead Internship fund provides stipends for these types of opportunities, allowing students to start pursuing work related to their academic interests.

Discover Haverford welcomes Reza Eshghi as new summer intern

Originally from the Boston area, Reza is currently a rising junior at Haverford College majoring in Economics. His academic interests include economics, banking, business, and finance. Outside of the classroom, Reza runs both cross country and track for Haverford College, specializing in middle distance running.

In addition to his academic and athletic pursuits, Reza brings a strong passion for community involvement and engaging with small business leaders to his role as a summer intern. With his well-rounded background and dedication to personal and professional growth, Reza is excited to contribute his skills and enthusiasm to the Discover Haverford team and gain valuable real-world experience in the field of economics!

Discover Haverford Takes on PA’s Premier Revitalization Conference

Four members of Discover Haverford recently attended PA’s Premier Revitalization Conference, hosted by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center. The attending participants were John Druhan (President of the Board), Jeanne Angell (Executive Director), Judy Tombetta (Commissioner Liaison), Dave Burman (Township Manager), and Reza Eshghi (Summer Intern). The conference was held from June 25 to June 28th in Scranton, Pennsylvania. While the different workshops and presenters covered a range of topics, the core theme of the conference was titled “Making Room: Housing for a Vibrant Community.” As representatives of Discover Haverford dedicated to uplifting the economic conditions of our community, we had the privilege of attending this event alongside countless other passionate individuals and organizations striving to revitalize their own local economies across the state.
