Deacons' Special Offering: Metanoia Prison Ministries

“Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them,

and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.” Hebrews 13:3

Our deacons are asking you to consider a gift to the Deacons Fund on Sunday morning that can be used in support of our most comprehensive ministry to prisoners and is offered by sister churches throughout the PCA. Metanoia Prison Ministries offers churches like ours the opportunity to develop a discipleship and outreach ministry for prisoners in our own communities. Metanoia equips church members for valuable ministry initiatives, using carefully crafted tools for an all-inclusive ministry that brings the gospel, discipling, and reintegration guidance to prisoners. Correspondence courses are offered to prisoners by churches, using the curriculum that Metanoia has commissioned and provides. They represent biblical study in the reformed tradition, and they take the student from the very basics of the faith to advanced levels, building lesson on lesson.

The one-to-one work of Metanoia is done by people just like us who serve as volunteer instructors corresponding with prisoners or as visiting mentors who work with prisoners as they reintegrate into the community. Metanoia provides curricula, training, and logistical coordination for all volunteers. Any adult Christian can serve as an instructor.

If you have a heart for helping others grow in Christ and would appreciate a ministry opportunity that will work with your flexible schedule and can be done from home, learn more at https://www.metanoiaprisonministries.org/, or email Brent Andersen at brentcandersen@gmail.com or Jim Prieb at jprieb@mindspring.com. If you are not able to volunteer but understand the value of prison ministries, we encourage your gift. Most importantly, your prayers for Metanoia and the students who are enrolled in Bible studies right now are essential for real ministry success. Please pray for changed lives and God’s glory in making all things new.

Please place all special/monthly communion offering gifts in an envelope (found in pews) and label it ‘Special Communion Offering’ and include the name of the ministry before placing your gift in one of the tithe boxes located inside the sanctuary at our main doors in the north, south and toward the main lobby. You can also give online anytime by clicking here. Thank you for your gift!

Volunteer with Children's Ministry

Children’s Ministry is looking for volunteers for the upcoming year. This is a great opportunity to both invest in the children that you will serve with but also to create community within the congregation. Children’s Ministry would love the chance to place you in a spot to serve where you can connect with other members at Christ Covenant and form a relationship where you might not otherwise. If this sounds like a way that you would be interested in connecting with your fellow church members, email Abigail Cerrato at acerrato@christcovenant.org, and she can give you more information.

'O Nights' - Christ Covenant Church Outreach
Tuesday, July 18

Everyone is invited to join us on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month for Christ Covenant Outreach Nights, called O Nights. Our next one is Tuesday, July 18, from 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm. We will not have O Nights on Tuesday, July 4. We want to provide different opportunities where we can learn more about our community while at the same time care for people, take steps of faith to engage others, and avail ourselves to opportunities to share the gospel. It also gives us the opportunity to serve together, to pray for our community, and to see God work in another way.

We will meet in the south lobby of the worship center. If you do not feel comfortable walking, we would love for you to participate by praying on our campus. Please bring your small group, family, etc. and join us! If you have any questions, contact Michelle at mgustavson@christcovenant.org.

Registration Open for New Member Class

This class is required for those seeking to join Christ Covenant Church. Our next New Member Class will be held during Sunday School beginning August 27. The class will be twelve-weeks long meeting from 9:00 am – 10:20 am. If you are interested in attending, please contact Michelle Gustavson at mgustavson@christcovenant.org to register by August 21.

New Arrivals in the Book Nooks

Have you looked through the new arrivals we have in our book nooks located in the main and north lobbies? If you are looking for a great book for summer reading, we encourage you to stop by one of the book nooks!

The Moon is Always Round

by Jonathan Gibson

Even young children want answers to the hard questions about God and suffering. In The Moon Is Always Round, seminary professor and author Jonathan Gibson uses the vivid imagery of the moon to explain to children how God’s goodness is always present, even when it might appear to be obscured by upsetting or difficult circumstances. The Moon is Always Round can be found in the north lobby book nook.
