Dear Saint Mark Family,

God’s grace and peace be unto you.

I want to bring to your attention a number of ministry opportunities that will be happening in the life of our church in the coming weeks, so you can mark your calendars to ensure you participate in them.

On Sunday, August 20, we will celebrate the ministry of Minister Sheila Stephens between services in Wade Hall, as she leaves for retirement. All are invited to share in this farewell celebration.

On Sunday, August 27, we will continue our neighborhood outreach with Popsicle on Peachtree, immediately following the 11am service. This will be a great opportunity to continue engaging our neighbors as we close out summer. There will be many treats to quench the summer’s heat, even as we meet, greet, and show hospitality to our neighbors. Dress casually, and let’s plan to be ambassadors for Saint Mark and for Jesus Christ.

Our Wednesday Night Midweek Retreat – Dinner, Fellowship, Bible and Book Study, and Choir Practice – will resume September 13th. This is a time of refreshing and renewal from the hectic pace of the week. It is a time where you can simply have a meal with other Saint Mark members and breathe, participate in a class study, and/or you can sing along with the choir. There will be engaging ministry opportunities during dinner, and you have the chance to know other members of our congregation. Mark your calendars and watch for the listing of opportunities that will be available during this time.

There will also be another opportunity for you to grow in discipleship through the Disciple I Fast Track Bible Study. This is a 24-week in-depth review of the Old and New Testaments. The study comprises of 15 to 30 minutes a day of bible reading and dynamic group discussions during the weekly meetings. The purpose of this study is not to make you a Bible scholar, but to enhance your spiritual journey as a disciple of Christ.

A new class will begin Wednesday September 13th right after the Wednesday dinner. The study will be in two parts…12 weeks in the fall covering the Old Testament, and 12 weeks in the spring covering the New Testament. The book for the first session is $17 and scholarships are available. Buddy Wofford will lead the study.

If this time does not work for you, you may be able to join an existing class either Sunday mornings or Tuesdays at 6:00pm.

Continue growing in Christ, Saint Mark, and may the eyes of your heart be enlightened.

God’s peace,

Pastor Carolyn.
