of our organ with the organ builders,

Ralph Richards and Bruce Fowkes

and former Rector, the Rev'd John Porter.

will also "pull out all the stops"

and lead us us in some hymns singing

and other organ works.

A reception follows.

Did you know?...

The words on our altar cross are the same that are over Bede’s tomb at Durham Cathedral, Durham, England? Come for our 25th Nave Anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 10 am and hear Ann Cowperthwaite, the designer and sculptor, tell her story of the vision and history of the cruciform.

The Youth Class at 4 pm

will continue as scheduled.

Calling all youth!!

Join us on Sunday afternoons from 4-5 pm for an exciting and fun Youth Formation offering. This class will prepare folks for confirmation at the Cathedral on Sunday December 12th.  Please note, all are welcome to this class regardless of whether you kplan to be confirmed.  Participants are NOT required to be confirmed after attending all of the classes if they so decide.  This class will run on through December 11.

Looking ahead for youth: Christmas Trees  

The St Bede’s youth will also be selling trees and wreaths again this year beginning Sunday, November 6th.  Trees and wreaths will be available for pick up on Sunday, December 4th.  More details coming soon.

of Deacon

Nora Cruz-Diaz

After almost ten years of faithful servant leadership with us as deacon, the Rev'd Nora Cruz-Diaz will begin a new phase of her life as she retires from active ministry and moves to South Georgia to be closer to family. Nora's last Sunday with us will be October 30 when she will preach and we will celebrate her ministry with us with receptions after worship at 10 am & 5 pm.

As is our custom, we will be collecting a "purse" or "love offering" to give to Nora to show our appreciation for her and for her ministry with us. If you would like to contribute to this gift, please designate your gift as "Nora's Purse".

An Altar of Remembrance

This year, as we celebrate All Saints'/All Souls' Days, a tradition returns - an Altar of Remembrance. While many cultures celebrate some festival for the remembering all the faithful departed, we  embrace this tradition from Mexico where these tableaux are set out in homes, churches, and in other community gathering areas around the time of Día de los Muertos - the Day of the Dead (All Saints'/All Souls' Day).

St. Bede's parishioners from all worship services are invited to bring photos of loved ones who have died to place on the altar that will be set up in the Commons (photos may be framed or unframed, and name labels help us all join in the remembrance). Other items representing loved ones who have died may also be placed there - favorite foods, a small article of clothing, or anything that brings that person to mind. Photos and other items may be placed on the tables set up to the left of the entry doors to the Nave any time between Sunday, October 23 and Sunday, November 6 and may be picked up any time after November 7.

Episcopal Relief and Development

is leading the Episcopal Church's response

to relief from Hurricane's Fiona and Ian.

Let There Be Light!

A very big THANK YOU to the team that spent last Friday replacing burnt-out bulbs and upgrading the Nave to brighter and more efficient LED lighting. 

This team was led by Jeff "Skywalker" Swoope (who replaced all 80+ bulbs himself, by hand) and supported by his "ground crew" Jan Swoope, Steve Hadler, and George Shingler.

A New Look For St. Bede’s!

Our exterior siding renovation project has been completed

and we have a beautiful new look!

We want to thank everyone

who has generously contributed to this project.

We are still hoping to raise another $13,500

(as of October 21)

to complete our fundraising goal.
