ISBT's Role in the Beverage Industry

ISBT President Maria Piedad Lopez gave a presentation during the last ProPak Asia Beverage Industry Update webinar entitled "ISBT's Role in the Beverage Industry." During that presentation, Maria discussed ISBT's vision, "to be the premier global beverage industry technical association that drives sustainable growth, resolves challenges, and leads productivity innovations" and its mission "to provide a networking forum for technical collaboration focused on expanding expertise and advancing beverage science."

She specifically pointed out ISBT's Committees and Sub-Committees, its global events, and the strategic resources available to members as ways that the society is achieving that mission and vision. Maria showed the benefits of becoming an ISBT member and all the various ways to get involved based on professional and personal interests.

Dr. Joerg Zacharias from Krones also participated in the webinar representing ISBT and presenting the Latest Technologies in the Beverage Industry

ISBT is pleased to continue this collaboration with Propak Asia and bring the benefits of becoming a member of the society to the Asia region. Reach our BevTech Asia Pacific team if you want to learn more and don’t forget to register to Propak Asia on 14-17 June 2023, Bangok, Thailand

In the next ISBT connection, Maria Piedad will give more detail about ISBT’s Mission and Vision and how the society is expanding its reach beyond non-alcoholic beverages to other categories, and the strategic priorities to support our vision and long-term objectives.

While working out at the gym wearing an ISBT t-shirt, the trainer noticed my logo and said that being a beverage technologist must be a fun job. It is a fun business, and beverage technologists have done the impossible…zero- calorie Sweeteners that are equivalent to sucrose in taste, plastic (PET) bottles clear as glass, and Water that is pure to drink!

No Coke for You: North Korea and Cuba are the only places you can't buy Coca-Cola.

Were you born with a sweet tooth? Yes, humans are hardwired to prefer sweet from birth. Sugars are a type of carbohydrate. When we eat carbs, they stimulate the release of the feel-good brain chemical serotonin. Most brain cells are influenced in some way by serotonin. This includes brain cells related to mood, sexual function, sleep, memory and learning, and appetite. No wonder sweet things make us feel so good.
